  1. Your scouts have to have a good eye on HS pitchers. Berrios, Bungartner, Cole, Greinke, Thor, Wheeler were all HS pitchers when drafted. So was Bundy and a whole lot of others. Same holds true for college pitchers.,
  2. I am sorry that I didn’t take the time to look up when and where Green said it I did not say that Pittino did not say it, only that Green did . It seemed appropriate to be referencing the Twin Cities and not Boston. I would be certain that plenty of other people said it before Green or Pittino. Anybody who is a target of the negativity has probably muttered it. I even thought it while reading the pages here when the Twins were 4-8
  3. Statistics show that even an average base stealer will cost the team more runs than they will gain. When base stealing is left to the more talented at it the catchers throwing people out percentage will go down HR per team is at about 1 per game per team. That is historical average. Runs are at around where they have always been. So either runs are coming via the grand slam, or there is still old fashioned baseball. Except of course, the out to make an out
  4. Odo lost his start, as did Dobnak. End result wouldn’t have changed Baldelli had Gordon sacrifice the other night. Is that old school enough. The problem with eye tests is the objectivity of the eyes.
  5. He is OPS is at nearly .800. He warmed up in the month of May, so yes Donaldson
  6. The Twins reside in neither the AL East nor the NL West. Just like every other team that is not in those divisions, people can claim soft schedule. June is a ways off. The Yankees are a bit of a crapshoot If Judge, Stanton, or Donaldson go down with their annual injury the team is not so frightening
  7. Every fan is smarter than a baseball manager. Why is that? Every decision that a manager makes that does not work the fan can say they would have never done that.
  8. Neither team paid much for what hey got. That would also be being low. Money and payroll may be important toe the Twins, but I really doubt the Donaldson contract amount hampered the Yankees as all. It was added leverage
  9. It is a buy low scenario for both the Rangers and the Yankees. Many people love to spin trades this way
  10. It is easier to complain Negativity draws more of a reaction. Negativity fuels politics. People seem to respond more to the negativity. More views are more money. Edit. Forgot to add, but when it comes to trades rather than playing, we screwed the other guys is popular. Of course that involves a lot of negativity of the players dealt by analytical analysis of whatever stat backs the theory
  11. At this point you probably might want Donaldson. After a sluggish 3 weeks to start the season he has been slugging at an OPS of about .800
  12. The question is not are they real but can they become better. The division and wild card are obtainable. The question becomes are they able to do winning in the playoffs. That all depends on the growth of Winder, Ryan and Ober. Does Gray return to health or does it nag all year? How does Duran develop as the high leverage pitcher? Are Duffey and Thielbar high leverage pitchers? Is their a fourth high leverage reliever? There are a lot of games left to go with a lot of mediocrity to play. The answer to are they real will not be known
  13. 43 batters faced, 5 hits allowed. That is not a whole lot to go one. One lucky guess on a slider changes the numbers dramatically. Encouraging start, incomplete on the picture.
  14. Wouldn’t the Orioles be considered a fluff team?
  15. Marlin Rays Royals Brewers and Tigers are the only teams so far that are going to. Be streamed.. I wouldn’t get hopes up to high for other teams. MLB was trying to figure out how they could do it.
  16. Brandon Lawson was persistent Hopefully he learned from the dozens of pitching coaches he has had and will be more successful in his next career
  17. There is a lot of trade bait in the minors for a pitcher.
  18. Ok, you were correct at this point about the bullpen. Someone who is always pessimistic will be tight about as often as someone who is always optimistic.
  19. As the average speed of pitches goes up so does the stress on the body to produce that level of speed. Tendons are not invincible.
  20. If you consider WHIP, throwing clean innings means at some point the piycher is going very bad. Very few atr less than 1
  21. What was his Zips prediction for last year after having a great year the year before?
  22. What you read was what you read. I read what I read. A team sets their budget, a GM should maximize how it is spent. The deal for Correa was more than probable when the trade was made.
  23. Away from Coors last year Cron had a .730 OPS Just one small piece of homework…..
