  1. You stated that it was fine they did not touch the 40 man. I could probably name three relievers that the majority of this site wishes that they were traded. See 8/4 box score
  2. About Correa, after a rough April he has been hitting as well as he ever has for a season,. That he was considered a superstar when he got here, what were you expecting?
  3. It was a bad month when your pitcher of the month gets DFA. I wonder if Baltimore will claim him?
  4. Trade for injured pitchers. The team has enough injured pitchers
  5. Shoot a lot of the capital for Ryan or Gray to get the team a win ib the playoffs
  6. The Cubs got a 19 year old kid who is now a top 30 prospect playing in A+ ball for Baez and a below average relief pitcher. Correa could net a very good prospect and relieve the Twins of a middling ,middle reliever
  7. The bad trade threads start in about 2 weeks. If they trade for a reliever they will start 15 seconds after the first blown lead. The “we could have had that player” usually will start within minutes of the trade announcement
  8. Gioloto and Lynn have had bag years, but the last couple were good. It would appear that writers forget the bad years and expect them to return to last year’s form. The other thought would be payment by clicks
  9. People have short memories. Next up is a story about trading for Montas
  10. Add a top starter, a decent reliever, players come back from injury at where they were, and players playing at their peak they would be a contender. That is pretty much the same if as all of the rest of the teams
  11. Considering what Oakland took back in the trades for Bassit and Manaea it is almost pointless to speculate what they would want for Montas. Pick a name off from the each of the Fort Meyers teams and one from Cedar Rapids that are performing well and that could be the trade.
  12. Yes there are fewer bad teams. Worse yet is the reason they are bad, They have very few good pitchers. Fewer yet on expiring contracts. The usual suspects in the last few years that got moved seem to be retired, the market is going to be bare. There will most likely be a player added, just don’t expect to be wowed
  13. Pagan and Rogers each have 5 blown saves. Rogers has appeared in 5 more games. There really would be no difference between the two in outcomes of games, They have each had their share of meltdowns
  14. There are plenty of people who need to look at trade history. Back pf bullpen rental help only requires a couple of bodies that bolster a farm system. A rental closer requires more. Control beyond at his year costs more. The Twins and every other team gave the assets to buy rental back of bullpen help. Starting pitching help might be more difficult . They have prospects doing well enough to be trade bait for a starter but they don’t have a pedigree of draft position or beauty contest rankings.
  15. Gallon was traded for a shortstop of the future. That would be the equivalent of Lewis. Stroman was traded for a recent first round and second round pitcher. The Twins didn’t have that. At the time their 2 best pitching prospects were Balazovic and Graterol Bauer was a personality mess then. Tanner Roark had less than a league average ERA. Better than Gibson, but not really going to change the outcome of the playoffs
  16. First off trade values include subjective grades on an imperfect science/ It does not legitimize anything Trade for Montas only makes sense if the pitchers are all future relievers. That is a pessimistic view on things Maybe the prospect sites don’t like Steer. Unbanked and in AAA. Low trade value Trade value people have a value for Bednar, so does the Pirates. Guess which one is more accurate for assessing if a trade is accurate By history of trades for relievers like Bard Cruz and a lottery ticket would be enough
  17. It depends on where he starts out. They could start him in A ball, He can play with another 21 year old Cavacao
  18. Wrs Johnson was not likely the source for the slider preference. That came from the analytics department. The front office’s MO on relief help is find the cheap and hope for the best. It is a matter of shuffling the prospects. The cost for those relievers is not the Wallner and Celestinos, Contreras is the high end. The low minor leaguers that are doing well but not being promoted could all be used
  19. Baseball numbers and what they mean. Twins catchers are poor at throwing out runners yet in a league that is more and more driven by data the Twins ate low in giving up stolen bases. There is passed ball data, but no data on blocked balls. The Twins are lower on the list for WP. The difference between the two stats is someone’s judgement. Passed balls also can happen when you are trying to hard to pitch frame. Hitting is more clearly defined
  20. Saves, holds, and blown saves are really not indicative of much in regards to the bullpen. The team has to have a lead for any of them. Without a decent rotation the counting stats are less likely to happen. If the offense clicked there are no counting stats. If the offense isn’t there the defense could let in a run, now you have a blown save
  21. It is a popularity contest. Biggest fan base wins. It is hard ti get too upset about the lack of success in a popularity contest as those are the parameters agreed upon
  22. When examining the past it is pointless to look at the trades made by previous administrations. They are no longer here, the current group operates differently
