Free agency is a game of chicken. There are only so many impact players available. Rogers had a bad season, but not a bad career thus far. It seems like the Giants have a pretty good track record turning around pitchers. If they get Rogers back on track they have a bargain compared to the other contracts. The Twins on the other hand have not turned around anyone. Parts of good seasons from Odo and Pineda but not anything that makes you go wow. It does not help that Reed’s career died in Minnesota, as did Joe Smith’s. It may be tough for them to pick up a reliever

Harder had 0 runs in the post season. He did his job

If that double at Yankee Stadium would have been called correctly he would for sure be a first ballot

Rodon for 6 years might be more than reasonable, might not. Might be Strasberg v2.0 Swanson was a 2-3 war player until his big contract year. History says they regress back to what they were. Bassit yup, did the FO inquire? Dunno. After pitching during lean years and pitching for a 100 win team was Bassit going to look for a contender? Was he interested in the Twins? Thor wanted to sign somewhere to rebuild value. After being on the Angels I don’t think for a 1 year contract is was about money.

Not to be snarky but there were people here who like mediocre players who have one good year. Far too many. If you give sarcasm back to what you thought was sarcasm, watch out

So, Marshall was a half century ago, Willis was at his peak 30 years ago and was good for 3 years. Derek Lowe pitched multiple innings before being transition to a starter. That was before the turn of the century. Consistent 2 inning pitchers are like unicorns, Bigfoot and some people’s election ballots, they do not exist. The long reliever becomes starter with injuries. If the pitcher is good at getting an out, pretty quick they are the closer or 8th inning guy. If the pitcher can keep the pitch count down, pretty quick they also good enough to not get hit hard their role changes.

Why would the Angels trade what they just signed. That the Angels signed him might be enough of a wed flag

What reliever, still active or alive does as you want that actually has pitched the 2-3 innings every other day.

Needles in a barn full of hay. Finding a SP in the draft in 2013 out of 20 pitchers in the first round, Jon Gray at number 2 Sean Manaea at 34 In rounds 2-10 out of 150 pitchers selected, in round 7 was Mahle 2014 was much better. 20 pitchers in round 1. Rodon 3, Nola 4, Freeland 5, Koepech33, Flarety 34. Rounds 2-10 out of 141 Webb round 4, Woodruff was round 11. 2015 saw 18 pitchers selected in the first round Walker Buehler at pick 24. Rounds 2-10 saw 153 pitchers selected Brady Singer in round 2 2016 saw 22 pitchers in the first round Quantrel at 8,, Dakota Hudson at 34. Rounds 2-10 saw 142 pitchers selected Civale and Galen round 3, Burnes round 4, Bieber round 6 and Gonsolin in round 9 If my math is accurate that is 666 pitchers selected. 18 starters with an era+ over 100. If the pitcher did not have a couple of bwar I did not bother seeing how good they have been

If you are getting rid of Kepler then you ought to be moving on from the other 29 year olds on the team Will the 23 team be so bad that a tear down is warranted? I would say it depends on health, most of which are 29 or older

Trying to figure out if the FO traded away Urshela it would be reasonable to think they like Miranda at 3B.

Pandemic threw off a lot of training. Some would say fickle ness of pitching injuries compared to the good old days but what used to be average was a lot less torque than what is average now. Ligaments can only take so much. Also consider the numbers of pitchers blooming later. It is not unusual for a pitcher to become dominate after age 27. There is no normal for pitching

In all likelihood after the first 10 or so draft picks in the first round pitching becomes a crapshoot.

18 pitchers had an fwar greater than 4 last year. 8 of them were first round draft picks higher than 11. 4 were international signings, the other 6 later draft picks. It is difficult to find the very good pitchers. Worse yet, it can change year to year.

Coulda, woulda drafted players by the boatload? How many of these player fall into the category of upper tier pitching?

I think the Twins should trade for all 3 players from the Yankees. The catch is there has to be a low level prospect for each year of a contract. If people think this current team is so bad they might as well rebuild through the minors

He would be a better option if he was still the player he was when he left. He is not

There are many medical things that are not as black and white as you think. The biggest one is timetable for things happening or deteriorating. It may be a matter of opinion. It may be something that has happened over the last year. But feel free to tell us what the Twins staff missed

We now can be certain that the Pohlads should have offered to build a Dior store. They might have even made their money back

The #Brewers also plan to keep shortstop Willy Adames. Quote Tweet Bob Nightengale @BNightengale · Dec 2 The #Brewers, who have been shopping Kolten Wong all winter, are now telling teams that they are keeping aces Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff. They are unavailable in trades. 3:25 PM · Dec 2, 2022 One out of four fixes are not likely Eovaldi’s agent team may have misread the market by not accepting the QO. He might be worth the QO on a 2 year contract. Sorry but the return isn’t worth the cost. The competitive balance pick would be better used as trade bait Will Smith and Brad Hand. Well, they have Pagan, what do they need another reliever for? Relievers are always needed

He went to New York and tanked, He went to LA and did not recover He is not the first player that has tanked going to the Yankees. The hot take here is to complain on veterans

What Gordon needs to do is learn how to play defense. DRS and UZR does not like him

Holy F does one have to watch how one says things on this board. It is worse than politics At this point it is pointless to say anything. Have a nice holiday. Have a nice Christmas if you don’t like the previous term. If you don’t do the holidays, sorry about that

Gallo has hit a lot the last three years to the short right fielder. That position in theory ceased to exist. His batting average, in theory, should go up
