  1. Wade's first month of basically being a fulltime player (6/2021) = .250/.290/.473 Cave's first month of basically being a fulltime player (7/2018) = .313/.333/.500 Recency bias is exactly what this is. Cave is also only a year older than Wade. Using this decision to question the self-scouting of the FO is non-sense.
  2. How many rounds is the Rule 5 draft? Two? Three if there are takers? Seems like 29 front offices missed twice (maybe three times) on the chance to draft Miranda. What a bunch of idiots!
  3. Cole in June: 4.64 ERA 25.3% K-Rate 7.14% HR-Rate 7.14% BB-Rate Suck on that thru 2028 at 36 mill per, F#$%!'n Yankees!!
  4. Maybe if Ober is pitching well, he will get a longer leash today. It seems the bullpen could certainly use a longer outing from him.
  5. Don't worry, you aren't the only one who's played mental toy soldiers about this. It's probably best for it to play out in our minds and stay off the field though. ?
  6. De La Trinidad might be one to sell high on at the deadline. He's another LH outfielder who will be stuck behind other young players. He's also rule 5 eligible. Even though the Twins should be sellers, they should try to work the value while it's there. Julien, Steer and Miranda should all be promoted, and they all can basically replace the guy promoted in front of them. The Twins should easily be able to show one of Descalso, Tomscha or Johnson the door at St. Paul to accommodate these promotions.
  7. It's definitely been one of the most over-estimated and most poorly managed. Happ, Shoemaker and Colome have been absolute duds. Maeda and Pineda have been injured. Dobnak, Thorpe and Jax have been spun around and turned upside down (mostly due to the lack of output of the previously mentioned gang of five). Dobnak apparently can't really throw his newly polished slider, but he's still sent out there anyway. Stashak looked hurt a long time before he was finally sent to the IL. The worst part about it is that most of the one and done contracts are invested in these low output players, and they won't command anything in return at the deadline.
  8. I can't wait for the purge, so that some of these guys like Moran can get a look.
  9. If players keep dropping like flies to injury, he should have ample opportunity. Donaldson being out for a month with a calf is a good bet over the next season and a half. Add in Arraez' knee, Polanco's ankle and Gordon's belly, and I'm pretty sure he'll get a chance.
  10. Well, after this coming weekend, the Twins should be in position to draft the next Kohl Stewart with the 4th pick in the 2022 draft.
  11. That Funderburk line is pretty impressive. Looks like he gave up a blind squirrel homer and then wild pitched a guy around the bases. Hopefully, the system can polish the edges and develop a pitcher here.
  12. Reasons aren't excuses. If he couldn't execute pitches due to the finger ailment, then he shouldn't have been out there. Fire Rocco.
  13. Jax can safely go back to protecting the skies.
  14. Between grad parties and my daughter's Sweet 16, I didn't have time to watch this one. They won. Maybe I should be so narcissistic to just stop watching and assume that the winning will continue.
  15. Celestino had a PA taken away by a stupid umpire, had a nice line drive snared on a good play by the O's 2B-man and had another PA stolen by his manager who needed a pinch-strikeout as part of his spreadsheet driven game-plan. If anyone ever deserved a mulligan ....
  16. I think the 20-30 from Brock's poll is going to be a real challenge. May have needed another choice. The Twins Kids Club should have a Fire Sale Sign Design event with T.C.
  17. I see it's that point in the season where the rose-colored glasses and glass-is-half-full-at-a-quarter-volume mindset is overtaking the obvious ineptitude in this picture of a season. Matt Shoemaker may have pitched well for three innings, but his job is to pitch well for at least the five to six innings that today's game has reduced expectations down to for a starting picture. If five ground balls are hit at Andrelton Simmons tomorrow and he makes errors on two of them and then doesn't even get to a sixth that is well within his range, would that rate some praise on his defensive game too? "Shoemaker's 4.1 inning, five run, losing effort was trash" = REALITY
  18. Any detail on the Enlow injury? I hope it's minor.
  19. At this point, there is no reason to take Dobnak out of the rotation the rest of the season, unless he gets injured. I can almost guarantee he will get blown up a couple times when the BABIP gods frown upon him for the day, but who cares? I'll go out on a limb and predict that the Twins will win 4 of their next 7. That would put them at .407 through the first third of the season. That's reality. Dobnak should get the chance to pitch every fifth day, and if he has some bad outings, he should be given the chance to adjust. Like Jimbo stated above, he looks like a guy that can pitch his stuff and not hurt himself doing it. Give him 20-22 more starts this season and then evaluate the body of work. He's also way more fun to watch than guys like Happ anyway.
  20. Blayne Enlow - A+ Charlie Barnes - AAA Bryan Sammons - AA Calvin Faucher - AA Bailey Ober - AAA Derek Molina - A+ Those are the pitchers left from the 2017 draft (Falvine's first). Running out of time and horses for that Bieber/Civale/Plesac emergence from that group. Twins have four innings from Ober so far. Meanwhile, Cleveland has just a many pitchers left from that year. Karinchak has already arrived despite the Garlick homer. Kyle Nelson just got called up as well.
  21. Nice to see a hiccup in the Cleveland pitcher development program ... Of course, the rookie that came in looked pretty good, so it probably won't be a trend.
  22. The Twins almost have to keep Tortuga around just offset the stoic Kirilloff and Larnach.
  23. Great take, Ted. I think the one and done guys should all be moved for what can be had. Pineda might be the exception there. The club should listen to offers for Berrios, Rogers or Buxton, but they should walk away if they aren't blown away. Donaldson, Polanco, Sano, Garver, Kepler and Maeda are going to be here in 2022, and the calls to trade and eat or even DFA those players are just absurd. Is Kepler making too much to be a 4th OF? Probably, but Larnach and Kirilloff will be making pre-arb coin. It's fine. Perhaps that will light a fire under Kep. This is a retool, restock and audition for the a quick rise back to the top situation.
  24. No kidding. After reading some articles, I had Kepler penciled in for Yelich MVP-years numbers, Maeda competing for a Cy and Garver/Jeffers as the most enviable catching tandem in MLB.
