  1. Any word on Colina's rehab status? Will he be able to pitch this year? He and Cano seem like August/September options for the pen for those of us resigned to the fact that there won't be meaningful games in September and a fire sale should happen in late July.
  2. I don't think Chicago's lineup today was the game's best. Insert Abreu, Grandal and Robert, and you might be on to something.
  3. Pineda, Colome, Cruz, Simmons, Happ and Robles. There's your six spots.
  4. Four of the top six prospect are injured. Too bad this season isn't just a bad dream.
  5. Like the xBA on Sano's homer, we can type our fingers off posting about shoulda/coulda/woulda.
  6. Tigers won. Twins are still the worst team in MLB.
  7. No point in opening more capacity. Nobody is going to go to watch these losers.
  8. I agree with the meat of this suggestion, but I think it's far too aggressive for the Twins. I don't understand why you would DFA Cruz or Simmons on June 1, when they will likely command at least some value at the end of July. Trying to move them in between those dates is fine, but doing something so aggressive just to get Nick Gordon another 100 PAs probably isn't worth it. Donaldson's contract is too big to move, IMO. DFA'ing Donaldson just isn't going to happen. I think he and Maeda are the two vets that are going to stick around.
  9. This game showed how bad the Tigers are more than offering any hope for the Twins. Baddoo looked silly out there celebrating his first hit in 20 ABs. Were they really trying to get the ball when Miggy broke his 0-27? Pathetic. Robles is walking almost 6 per 9 innings and has an unsustainably low (both league average and personally) BABIP of .121. The breakdown is coming.
  10. 29th place team ... Standings don't lie
  11. I guess if it's for an Andrew Bechtold or something like that. Now Kirilloff is hurt, and it seems the Twins may be the ones unloading. I'd trade Robles for a Zippo that could be used to LIGHT A FIRE UNDER SOMEONE'S A$$!
  12. If you are going with Brandon Waddell in the 10th inning of a tie game that you really need to win while playing catchup to just .500 baseball, here are some names that would be more interesting and are old enough that you don't have to worry about the "years of control" or "available options". Jovani Moran Tom Hackimer Ryan Mason
  13. Not to mention that with Thorpe going today, Happ may be pushed back an extra day anyway.
  14. Because the Dodger/Yankee-type local TV deals aren't a thing here in the Land O' Lakes? I guess that's only a reason for cheap. I have nothing for stupid.
  15. I don't know about getting aggressive at 11-17. At some point, Happ will have to pitch against an actual offense, and he's going to get shelled. Maeda smoked and mirrored his way to not even a quality start. We know Berrios will be terrible after the AS break. Shoemaker is toast. And, last but not least, Big Mike isn't going to be a 30 start guy. I won't be surprised if this team gets swept in Chicago next week, then, hopefully, reality will set in. Now it looks like Kirilloff may be headed for the IL. May be time for a blow-up.
  16. For a team just trying to get back into it, 5-2 seems to be a must this week. That means winning all the Berrios, Pineda and Happ starts and somehow squeezing a win out of Maeda or Shoemaker. I'd bring Thorpe up tomorrow and be ready for a quick hook on Maeda, if he keeps getting shelled.
  17. It's way too early for this assessment. Especially considering that he's already had a four hit game this season and those all came from the left side. Just the improvement from the first 10 games until present shows that he's coming around. I think he'll be back to his .270/.330/.420 self by mid-May.
  18. I don't think Detroit is a pretender. Their record reflects the consensus thought on what type of season they would have. We'll get a good idea of the Kansas City situation this weekend. Duffy and Singer have been pretty good so far. Singer is a talent and could be figuring it out. Duffy is probably more likely to be in a hot stretch, but perhaps he will have a career year. Until yesterday, the Twins weren't exactly pegging lefties, so the question of pretender should be on full display Saturday.
  19. Ahhh ... Waking up to being a fan of officially the worst team in MLB with a nice .318 winning percentage. According to Dick and Roy, it's only April, that one cutter that Colome threw to Roberto Perez looked pretty good and the Nationals were 19-31 in 2019, so it's all good. Bwahahaha!!
  20. Well, time to lower the bar. Unless this is the worst team of all time, they should win at least 50 more games. I'll just expect them to lose every game and be pleasantly surprised 35% of the time.
  21. So, Arraez, Cave and Rooker will roam the outfield tonight ... Need Berrios to K 12 in 6 again.
  22. So our favorite Nick Gordon moment can only be that time the camera panned to him in the dugout.
