    I'm not arguing that Ober is the answer. Please copy the post from this thread where I said that. I'm saying the type of incentive-laden contract that Maeda signed with a relatively low base salary is an outlier of a contract, and I'm not too worried about quality free agents passing the Twins over if they relegate Maeda to the bullpen soon. If they miss out on an older has-been recovering from TJ that requires a Maeda-type contract just to make the risk more palatable, I'm not going to lose much sleep over it.

    It's quite the outlier of a contract. I doubt any agents are using it as a blueprint. I'm not too worried. I doubt anyone is going to look at the Twins as manipulators when looking at the circumstances surrounding Maeda (older, TJ-comeback, not really holding up very well even before the liner off the leg).

    The Twins didn't negotiate the incentives in that deal. The Dodgers did.
