  1. Pablo Lopez would be a fine addition to a team trying to win. If this FO actually has a plan...and if it is to compete...He could help. The cost would be high. With them being paralyzed by sticker shock on free agents I can't seem them parting with the players it would take to get Lopez in a Twins jersey..
  2. The Mets are going to have a payroll of the next two highest spending teams combined at this rate..
  3. I still hate this signing. Joey Gallo or Michael Brantley I know which one I would prefer...
  4. If Gallo is worth $11 mil by their charts, spreadsheet's or whatever. Sano must be worth 12x1. Sign me up! One more season wearing his jersey would only mean i threw away 1/2 my money.
  5. IDK why but this seems pretty simple to me. Creating fan support requires buzz. Yeah know, like last season. We got who to play SS? Now we've lost out on Correa. Ok, I can live with that. But get a few other guys to excite the fan base! Gallo...on a 1 years deal...Bad enough we've moved on from Sano who we've all rooted for at one point or another. MTB trade rumors says we're interested in Turner and Pollack..An hour later Turner signs with the Red Sox...6 years in and now we're looking at a likely reset? I'm 6 year's into my current employment. If I stop doing my job, I don't make year 7....the FO job is to win games, fill the stands and create buzz. i.e....excitement...Not succeeding, are you? You do realize you are in the entertainment industry?
  6. No Correa...Well let's load up one-year veterans. If we can even due that. Crushing offseason so far..
  7. There is not a low enough letter to grade this... $11 mil for 79 OPS+ last season.. $500K 80 OPS+ last season...Gilberto Celestino. Money well spent in comparison. Now 1/3 of our roster or 1/2 of our position players are LH corner outfielder...
  8. After seeing the Gallo signing I want to thank Ted for the welcome distraction. I think Lewis will get to the bigs 1st. Lee has a lot to prove in AA next season. There is a lot to like about the Twins infield and outfield prospects. But another full season will make it a bit clearer.
  9. I try and be positive about the Twins but JeZus H Ch>>st...Gallo? I tied to say a few things about it, but I give up. I can't even pretend to understand this one...
  10. Yikes! Let's reup Sano as well. That way we have 40% k rate from both side of the plate...
  11. In this market that's a good contract. Congrats to both of them.
  12. and I thought I was the only one. cheers!
  13. WOW this thread really grew today. Well done mnfireman! You found the soft spot. I get the anger/frustration. I'm not happy either. I'm not one to punt on much of anything. So maybe I'm naive. To steal from a fictional character: "Fear is the path to the dark side...fear leads to anger...anger leads to hate...hate leads to suffering." The Phantom Menace (Yoda) I'm not there yet.
  14. No they definitely haven't improved at this point. There is still time but no star players left imo. I'd like to see a good starter added (not named Rodon) another 7th or 8th inning BP arm and a RH 1B/OF. If the FO wants to make a splash how about a trade for Devers? Say Lee for Devers (with an agreed upon extension. Something like 12x28.5, 11x29.25 or 10x30?). Devers is only 25 and can move to 1b and then DH in the later years. Keep Miranda at 1st with Kirilloff or Arreaz.
  15. Carlos Correa does not a World Series bring. At this point investing in Swanson and/or Rodon seems like a panic move. Spreading the money out over lets say a SP on contracts 3 years or less, a RH bat and a BP arm or two. Raise the floor of the team. Run it back and see where you're at at the deadline. If we're completive keep at it. Anything else blow it up. Don't forget we are in the AL central. It's not going to take 100 wins to take the division.
  16. Did the Twins get moved into the AL East or NL west because they didn't sign Correa? NO? So we're still in the central? Blow the whole thing up because we didn't get the guy we weren't expected to get to begin with? Sound a lot like the Packer fans I have to listen to everyday this season. R-E-L-A-X...Go shovel some snow. Let the dog go play in the snow. EXHALE.
  17. Disappointing but not a huge surprise. Should be interesting to see how/if they pivot. On the plus side, there should be plenty of good seats available next season....cheap...
  18. Wasn't De Leon one of the pieces offered for Dozier? I vaguely remember something about him and Bellinger for Dozier. But the Dodger wouldn't part with Bellinger.
  19. Vázquez fits what the FO talks about from the catcher position the best imo of all the free agent catchers. 3 for 30 is reasonable and if there was a lot of compitation involved probably necessary to get it done. He provided 2.1 WAR last season. If that continues its a bargain at 10 mil per. There were trades that may have been an even better fit, but the recourses needed for those are much harder to replace. Also, I'd like to point out that as the years have gone on, they have been spending more aggressively. Let's hope that continues.
  20. You throw a nice 12 to 6 curveball on that one.
  21. Or as of Yesterday Contreas and Glasser for Hader. Is that enough?
  22. Hasn't Oakland had a bunch of these trades where most are scratching their heads on what they got? Then 3-5 years later they're winning 85-95 games a year. Maybe it is the range + no shift way to look at it. 4 1/2 more inches of bases as well. Didn't Ruiz kid steal close to 90 bases in the minors with the new rules? Maybe they're Zigging while we all carry on with our Zag. I'm leaning the bad trade direction.
  23. No Correa and No Rodon. This was very likely at the beginning of this offseason and seems less likely now then it was then. If I remember correctly most on this site were saying 10-15% chance they resign Correa at the start. 50/50 now? I'm not willing to give up on this just yet. Rodon has been a crowd favorite here. But the contracts handed out so far have him wanting 7 years at IDK $30 mil? Does that come with a 7 year bumper to bumper warrantee? What now? How about Nathan Eovaldi 3@18-20, Wil Wyers 2@7.5 and Aroldis Chapmen 1@10. Trade for a SS. Kiner Fafela should work and not cost much in prospects. Plus an extension or two. Arreaz and Mahle are what I'd like to see. Do these moves make us a series favorite. No of course not. These moves plus Miranda getting better, Arreaz being Arreaz, Polanco healthy, Larnach and Kirilloff being league average, Ryan's 3rd pitch gets better should get us in the playoffs. As Philly just proved if you peek at the right time you don't have to have the best record for the season. Just in each series in the post season. Retool. At the start on the season because we missed out on some free agents? No. I think they'll just run it back with Farmer as the starting SS. By the trade deadline if they play as bad as they did in the 2nd half of last season we are going to have a large amount of new prospects in the farm system and young guys starting everywhere.
  24. Although I pretty sure I'm one of the few. I'm stuck in the wait till the deadline on Kepler. The return isn't going to be that much less and it's maybe 50/50 that his value increases as a trade chip by then. If they are determined to trade him 1 vs 1 it doesn't look like there's much to work with. Kepler + $ and maybe our Comp A pick should get a higher quality prospect or a couple MLB regulars without taking on any of the bad contracts they are carrying right now.
  25. Unless something is missing it looks like Milwaukee crushed this trade.
