  1. The Twins are definitely light on power hitters. Especially right-handed ones. None of the young guys have proven they can stay on the field or that they are the answer. Hanniger would fill that role. I'm not excited to add another often-injured player to the mix. Hanniger or Myers on a 1-year deal would be great. More than that not so much.
  2. Baltimore's Santander might be a possibility as well. Switch hitting LF who had a pretty decent 2022 season.
  3. Casey Legumina surprises me but congrats to him! Plenty there to like. Sisk is the only one I wonder about. There will be probably be a silly amount of rule 5 players available so maybe me stays put. Casey Legumina has starter innings probably a smart play to hold onto an AA starter over a AAA reliever..
  4. Just spotted that. Like I said just thoughts. I read the write up on him (Shewmake) from MLB network and thought hmm..But that ship has probably sailed. I'm just far from convinced the middle tier FA are worth the 40-man spot let alone their salary.
  5. Something I was wondering about as well. Now lets not burn me to a crisp over this..but why not just snag a AAA SS from a team that doesn't protect them from the rule 5 draft or just straight up trade for them. They should be relatively inexpensive. If one of the three we have can take over in the second half great! Shewmake from Atlanta or Adison Barger from the Blu Jays. Just a couple of examples. 100K plus 3 months of league min salary. I know they're not proven pro players but millions for Elvis Andrus and his career 87 OPS+ or Iglesias and his career 88 OPS+ feels like a waste of time and money. Gary Sanchez had an 89 OPS+ for 2021. So you're getting a Sanchez type of performance from your SS position on average... I'm not saying this is a great option..but it is an option..
  6. It may make sense but this felt like a roster spot that could have been upgraded.
  7. Looks like a lot of teams are going to be struggling to find room for Rule 5 eligible prospects. I'm going to guess Julien, Canterino and Headrick get added. Then maybe a trade for someone's AAA SS or catcher to fill out the last spot on the 40 man and add some depth to a need position. I'd worry about loosing Sisk, Urbina and Severino. Without a trade I'd add Sisk. AAA lefty with a heart beat likely gets taken, Urbina is just to far away and Severino is probably to far down the depth chart to add.
  8. I'm going with no on a designated closer. Fireman. Yeah, but we need 1 more and Lopez to return to pre trade form. So far, the high end closer/firemen pitcher are getting PAID..Twins have yet to do that.. so, another reason to say no on anyone on the team having that title... Teams are spending on that type of pitcher so far...
  9. I hope they spend money and address the SS position long term. I REALLY want them to spend on it. BUT...last year's perfect storm just doesn't realistically seem possible. Drafting and trading for Lewis, Lee and Martin says that won't happen. Trades for (hopefully) short term needs is where this FO usually goes. A trade seems like the likeliest scenario whomever that may be.
  10. No Rule 5 in the couple seasons probably has something to do with it
  11. I hope the Correa situation is cleared up early on. Him onboard completely changes pretty much everything. Him not means there is a lot the FO could do. Boras Corp. usually holds out till late January early Feb to have his premium free agents sign. I'd hate to see the Twins wait that long...I'd call that the worst-case scenario. Just guessing with Correa onboard a trade or two and some low-end signings for the BP and backup catcher. Not much change to the 40 man. With a lot of talk about health...I really hope that isn't how it goes. To pick apart the red highlighted guys on the roster.. My opinion is DFA Contreas, Garlic and Stashak. To cheat and use previous players Megill is similar to Pressly when they got him from the Red Sox. Enlow has four quality pitches and is only just building up to starter innings. Garlic is an AAAA player. The splits are brutal. Stashak hasn't been healthy enough to get a roster spot. A playoff team that is dangerous and can win any series has a good player a SS. The Phillies just made it to the series with 5-6 DH's. But lost to the team that was better built and has a quality SS.
  12. I read something about Tampa having a big roster crunch with the rule 5 draft coming up. I think waiting it out and a minor league deal make the most sense. There will likely be guys with more upside available soon. Maybe we can find ourselves another Ryan Pressly. ??
  13. We all of us just want a team to watch and root for in October. IDC how it happens as long as it happens and am open to downgrading here to upgrade there. Rolling the dice (within reason) for a winning lottery ticket. Hell yeah! Hope, wish, maybe this or maybe that. Ideas good or bad are better than being complacent. I'd rather hear someone's opinion then only hear my own.
  14. I think his post is about other options. Missing out on Correa and signing maybe Iglesias is a better option? The Twins need to do something about the LH corner OF mess. Parting with one covering SS and dealing with the consequences is better than pretending it's not there. Plus 35 mil can solve the RF defense, BP and probably a starter as good as Gray.
  15. I like it except a couple things. Taillon @17.5 is steep of a #3. Why not go with Eovaldi for something similar 2x20 or 3x18? He's a #2 when healthy and a #3 when not. Martin and Julien both making the roster may be asking a bit much of guys who haven't played AAA ball yet. I like Sanchez but think he might be too expensive for what the Twins want. Old friend Castro, Narvaez or a Barnhard type probably work better. If it fits in the budget Wil Myers as RF/1B would help with lefties and platoon with Arreaz at 1st well.
  16. Same on Gullorme. Maybe a Keplar for Gillorme would work. Yeah, I had something similar to your on BTV. But a 3 team. One of my co-workers mentioned Hoerner today and I had long periods of down time, so I was checking that out. Cubs are supposedly interested in spending big at SS. Good names? You mean players names? If that, it came from someone's roster on this site with the roster building tool. Took a look at Guilorme and thought wow he's pretty good. Ha Seong Kim is someone I had on a fantasy baseball team for a while. Which is how I knew about him.
  17. Nico Hoerner seems like a good fit depending on where the Cubs feel they are in their rebuild. Adams I think would be much harder to get because the Brewers will be in win mode again next season. Ha-Seong Kim and Luis Guillorme, who someone mentioned in their team build, might fit as well. None of them will produce like Correa. But one of them plus 35.1 mil invested in roster upgrades might and then some.
  18. The Escobar trade would look as bad, possibly worse, then this one does after the 2021 season.. After Duran's 2022 season it looks a bit different. This FO would never have resigned him to a fair value contract. So we have Alcala and Celestino on our team now for someone who wouldn't be. I'm happy that Pressly got a ring but not unhappy about the trade.
  19. I'd really like to see the FO splurge on the BP. They've got a lot of young arms that they'll have cheap for many seasons to come. A couple of 2-3 years contracts in the 3-7 mil per year range shouldn't be out of the question. There are plenty of quality BP arms that should fall into that range. Michael Fulmer, Robert Suarez, Carlos Estévez and Pierce Johnson should be in that group. Plus another veteran or two in the pen should help the young guys at their craft.
  20. Sign him to be our #5 and if/when Meada or Ober can stay healthy...Which after last season seems like something you have to plan for the worst-case scenario. You can trade him at the deadline is we actually have a healthy season from most of our starters.
  21. Stashak has been good when not injured. But good enough to hold a 40 man spot? Garlick crushes lefties but not much else. Seems like someone you can upgrade with a FA Pagan this one is dicey...3-4 mil for a decent RP is kind of a bargain. Now before anyone that reads this starts typing a response. Please ignore the 1st 1/2 and look at the stats after July 4th. Similar or better the Taylor Roger or Trevor May. NO, he shouldn't be pitching the 8th or 9th inning. If our wise FO and manager are stuck at 2 times through the order Pagan to finish the 5th or pitch the 6th at his cost makes some sense.
  22. I get it. But the FO didn't give him that extension because of what they didn't like. There's something there they had hoped to capture. 1-3 mil with all kinds of bonus's making it a wash between declining next season and him earning it isn't out of the question. It seems highly unlikely but not impossible 1st thing I'd like to get out of the way is I'm not a big fan on Bundy. Signed to be the last starter he IMO did his job and at times did it very well. Again it depends on what Meada and Ober do. If they continue to be limited in innings Bundy as our #5 would be a good thing. If not, he could be traded with prospects for an upgrade elsewhere.
  23. There were times Bundy was our best or most consistent starter. I'd be good with him returning if Meada or Ober end up in the pen as long relief. Also love or hate Sano. I could see a low-end incentive filled contract from the Twins. Especially if the decline Urshela or trade him.
