  1. If I remember right didn't the FO give Cotton a pretty decent contract for a minor league deal? I could be wrong but that may be part of the reason he keeps making his way through waivers this season.
  2. Yes he would be. He also was 3rd? in the NL Cy Young vote two seasons ago. There may be a little more upside to picking him up over Bradley Jr.
  3. I'd rather the devil I know over the devil I don't on our OF. Now picking up Lamet and giving one of our low leverage BP arms their walking papers I could get behind.
  4. One thing I wonder about is if we all think about is if these trades are getting players closer to playing in the big leagues. Today we traded a bunch of 2nd base and 3rd base prospects. A few pitchers also. The league minimum is likely life changing amount of $ for them and many others. Maybe we lost a couple of all-stars today...But their families just gained a couple. I'm just trying to say I hope we gained as great of players to root for as we've lost. Best of luck to the new Twins and to the guys I'm sure we'll talk about in the future.
  5. One of the better trade deadlines for our Twins IMO.#3 starter and two late inning BP arms and most of our prospects that were traded are blocked by current and long term players Would have liked another starter and offensive catcher but all in all nice haul. Plus White Sox and Guardians didn't do anything. I hope we went from 50/50 odds of making the playoffs to 70/30. I'm sure there'll be some injuries and some ugly games ahead, but these additions should make them easier to overcome. Well done FO
  6. Fulmer! was hoping they got him. Already owns the divisions hitters. Nice 6-8 inning option. OK why not go for broke and get Wilson Contreas and a rental starter!
  7. Wasn't it two additions? Not including Lopez. The second addition is? I'm gonna take a flyer and say they get Kyle Hendricks.
  8. Are they working out an extension before announcing it??
  9. I got it..Rich Hill from the Red Sox...
  10. I'd lower there $ to get Campusano. After this season I believe the actual cost of Hosmer's deal drops quit a bit to 13 mil? I don't think the Twins will be pushing any tax thresholds so the AAV shouldn't really matter. Have them pay 30-50% of it for the last three seasons.
  11. Nice move. Now lets get at least one of Fulmer, Edwards Jr, Bass or Givens to shore up the BP. Maybe give up our next born for a good starter and everything else is bonus
  12. The sky has been placed on the IL ...If by some miracle it makes it back before the end of the season it may fall then..
  13. But he's a deadly 60 mph pitcher. Ohtani light ?
  14. Willians Astudillo designated by the marlins..Twins could use a back up catcher..Almost forgot..and pitcher for blow outs..
  15. How would the FO justify to ownership that the prospect or prospects they get back was worth Correa's contract? I don't believe Pohlad would sign that check so they can sell at the deadline. Even if the they wanted to sell I doubt it's an option.
  16. As a Sano fan I hope he plays well and creates this much hand wringing and comments though the rest of the season and when the time comes to pick up or not pick up his option.
  17. Hmm interesting trade target. A few seasons ago we did a trade with them Romo and Vallimont for Lewin Diaz. There's plenty of possible bull pen arms on their big league club that may help the Twins and add Nardi to. Miami could use bats and we certainly have a few of those we could part with to make something work.
  18. I remember when Jacob DeGrom was a short stop..Hope one of these guys turns out like him...as a Twin..
  19. https://www.prospectslive.com/prospects-live/2022-mlb-draft-top-400-prospects-h8bxx 577 Ben Ross SS Notre Dame College Springfield, OH Ross had a mammoth freshman campaign with Notre Dame College, hitting .426 with eleven homers, striking seldomly. Reasonably unknown on the national scouting circuit, Ross is a rangy defender with good hands on the dirt and a strong arm. He doesn't possess a ton of bat speed, but his bat path is optimized for damage and he drives the ball with authority to all-fields. Scouts will want to see how he can fare against better competition, something that will be a challenge given NDC's current slate.
  20. All the way to 20? That seems a bit far for someone who was expected to be a top 5 pick before TJ. Although the extra slot $ from the trade would give them the ammo to get him to skip going to Vandy
  21. Hoping for Parada, Lee or Lesko. Either of the 1st two would require some under slot deals before the Twins pick and luck. Lesko would be a bit high for a coming of TJ and full slot signing bonus.
  22. Just not another corner OF/DH type plz.. Go for upside at #8
  23. Congrats to both of them. It's well deserved. Was hoping for a pitcher like Varland to make it also. His numbers are really impressive.
  24. A lot to cover here but I've got a beer in my hand, so I've got the time. Poor umpiring and cheating are two totally different things. No the best team will probably not overcome blatant cheating I stopped watching the NBA years ago because of the things you mentioned. The last one I agree with totally. But if your giving up human error for complete fairness what about salary caps? How will our twins compete with 200-300 million payrolls? Would the Miricale Mets pulled it off with Rodo umps? What about the worst to 1st 91 Twins? My point is they overcame whatever diversity they faced and won and I'm certain their was plenty of bad calls and 4th Stikes their along they way. Imperfection is part of the game. That's why any team can win every year.
  25. Going from the White Sox, Gaurdians and Royals to the Yankees, Rays and Red Sox 19 times each per season I'd guess has a lot to do with it. Plus the parks are no where near as pitcher friendly. I think the results if the Twins had given him that contact would have been quite a bit better. As for the prospects i expect both of them to be quality big league regulars. Pair Martain with Arraez and hopefully you have two .300+ hitters with .400 OBP and maybe 10-15 homers per season. that's a lot of RBI's for whoever follows either of them. Richardson who knows?? Pitchers are so hit or miss compared to bats. Hopefully he's a 1-2-3 starter. But maybe he's a BP arm. I still believe in a couple years he'll make it to the show.
