Byron Buxton's Clock Is Ticking
MABB1959 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nothing left to say except maybe see if playing CF will help. His injuries can’t get worse and if they do time to start contemplating medical retirement.- 52 replies

Mariners 7, Twins 6: Sonny Gray Boils Down
MABB1959 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
First I would get him back in the field and see what happens, This DH is not working for him or the Twins, If he goes back on the IL so be it, but at least give it a shot,- 65 replies

Sadly I don't think he is going to get healthy. They should put him in CF and hope for the best. I am 100% sure that is what he wants. He wants to contribute. If I were him I would tell Rocco he is playing CF and just go out and stand there until they forcibly move him.- 65 replies

Week in Review: Winning Ugly in Oakland
MABB1959 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Seems most were always hard on Sano vs Buxton. We all want Buxton to succeed no doubt but everyday, every at bat seems his success is not going to happen. I think we all know his knee is NOT going to get better but no idea why that would affect his at bats. If it is a back injury it will be even more devastating, I really don't think moving him long term to the IL (perhaps the rest of the year) would help. I feel they are still looking at him as the face of the franchise/ticket seller. I think it is hurting his reputation and maybe his health which IMO is not going to get better, They should just put him in CF as I don't think this DH thing is going to get better even if they make the playoffs. Oh well I really hope the best for him and maybe it is worth the DH spot just to keep a fan favorite in the line-up. Thankfully Correa is doing a bit better his last 30 days at least. His BA is .269 over the last 30 games but it will be hard to pull it up overall now. He is at .232 for the year which doesn't look great. Hope he can keep up the .269 or even better for the rest if the season. Solano, Julien, AK, Jeffers and Polanco should play consistently. The outfield is harder to decide. No stand outs for sure, probably time to bring up some AAA players, They should give Wallner RF and see what he has. Is Larnach still in the long term plans? Play him instead of Gallo and for CF get Buxton out there now or at least give it a shot. I don't think his health can deteriorate much more. And try to sign a true DH, Wouldn't it be something if they went after and signed Ohtani!!!!!!- 37 replies

Buxton’s numbers are atrocious the last 30 games .146 with 39 strikeouts! It seems like this subject is off-limits in post game interviews. I don’t understand how his injuries affect making contact with the ball. I can’t watch on TV but it doesn’t seem like he is fighting off pitches. How often does he watch the last strike? Missing the pitch is not good either. Is something wrong with his eyes? It seems unexplainable.

It sounds like his knee is not going to get better so what to do? Constantly putting on the IL doesn't work and he is really taking a key position in the line-up given his production. IMO they are at the point where they need to put him back in CF one more time and if can't do it, it is time for him to retire. He is the face of the franchise but he will end up being a big disappointment if this continues. This is worse than the Joe Mauer story.

Obviously the medical staff in SF and NY saw things the medical staff that the Twins did not. That money should have been spent on a #1/2 starter and the Twins would have an all star that would easily been the face of the franchise and leader this team is lacking. They wanted a “big name” but certainly not a leader for the LVP. It is nice for those who keep saying he will turn it around.

Where Would They Rank?
MABB1959 replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in MLB Draft, International Signings, Amateur Baseball
Got it, thanks. I guess my thinking is desperate times need desperate measures. Maybe sending the whole line up to the AAA level would shake up this under achieving line-up.- 21 replies

No idea what ABS is but still stand by my opinion to get some of these guys up. I also think the Saints could win. Maybe that would light a fire on our pathetic hitting line-up!- 21 replies

Where Would They Rank?
MABB1959 replied to Jeremy Nygaard's topic in MLB Draft, International Signings, Amateur Baseball
No doubt the Twins could use these games to figure out what is wrong with the hitting. We eventually need to see what we have with SWR, Austin Martin, Wallner and others or let them go. We keep wondering what Wallner can do, what we got for Berrios and a few others who should be MLB ready by now.- 21 replies

It would be interesting to see a couple Twins vs Saints games. We could see some of the players IMO the FO are holding off. It should be easy to set up since they are so close together. A couple this week would be good. They do need time off but they need to try something NOW to get the AAA team MLB experience. The lineup needs change or they will be cleaning their locker rooms out on October 1st. See SWR and maybe Kuechel pitch. The Twins could use the batting practice for sure.- 21 replies

Weird Nerd Mad About Shutout
MABB1959 replied to RandBalls Stu's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I can see where it could be considered "even". Lopez also has the chance to dip here in MN. I have 2 points. First, a pitcher appears in 30ish games where Arraez is well over 100. 2nd is nothing against Lopez but disappointment that the Twins won't spend on great pitching (compliment to Lopez). -

Seemed like when we gave him to Miami lot's of talk about he couldn't repeat or was a flash in the pan hitter or just a singles hitter, etc. His overall career numbers rank with the best starting in 2019 with a BA of .334, Lowest of his career was a .294 in 2021, The Twins don't have anyone even close! He has played in over 120 games for the last 2 years and so far 83 this year. He had a few 10 day IL stints but has been healthy the last 3 years. Although you can't put a number of his personality of love of the game and how he could motivate the Twins this year should be close to 1.000, -
Berrios has stayed injury free. I believe that they do not do enough to strengthen their core. I mean an oblique injury just from running? Maybe it happened in the swing but they need to be in top physical shape. Not only during the season but in the offseason as well. Berrios has an offseason trading program that seems to be working.

Rocco Baldelli’s Leadership Highlighted In Twins Reset
MABB1959 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I loved actually hearing what Rocco, Correa, Buxton and one other players said in the pre-game interviews before the 8-1 win. It was great to think they had turned things around but deep down I knew not to get too excited and after the 8-1 win IMO they crashed right back down. I don't see many changes but the line-up has never stayed stable with Rocco. I didn't notice any big adjustments.- 44 replies

Besides all the numbers (win/loss, strikeouts, etc.), there is little to no one that leads this team by example or mentoring some of the players coming up. You can find fault with all of the below players but you cannot replace the players below Rosario, Escobar, Arraez, Cruz, Astudillo and Berrios who played with such enthusiasm and love of the game. Great memories with no players to replace these Sano: It was awesome with RISP and have him come to the plate and knock one out Buxton: Watching him when he got on base when he could run from 1st to home in seconds was so amazing AND fun! Buxton: Making the highlight plays in CF Cruz: Watching him mentoring others, especially Buxton. Many players beelined right to Cruz after an at-bat for advice or feedback IMO we have let players go that were FUN to watch, When the fans are excited I think it rubs off and effects the game. The Atlanta team is a true example of this and the domino effect it creates. Seems we have 9 position players and not a one of them brings excitement for the fans. Instead having the 1-5 players getting on base and getting RBI's all we can is hope they don't strikeout. We have a glimmer of hope with Lewis now,
