Every time he's bad for a few weeks, Royce's defenders argue "you can't cherry pick your stats!"

Yet he's at 1.0 WAR for the year and if you gave him another 1.0 WAR for the first two months instead of the negative WAR he created, for a mythical total of 2.0 WAR for the year, he'd still only rank #17 among qualifying first basemen. And you can't really ignore his first two months, because he's had periods like that almost every year, and you definitely can't just gift him additional WAR.

The sad thing is that this year he has shown that he still has the athleticism to succeed, but his lack of humility seems to stop him from improving.

Well...stats show that he has played in about 55% of Twins games this year...I would vote Clemens or Lee over him.. I will miss him next year...big time...Caratini simply is not the answer...

Actually, after years of being bitten by their seeming nonchalance about strikeouts, the Twins should be allergic to someone who strikes out as much as Torkelson.
