This Twins team is fun to watch

After last years dregs even with the ups and the downs this Twins team is fun to watch live. Last year was a drag and a bummer. This year they actually have a chance to catch the White Sox. The dirty Sox are good but not un-catchable, be fun to ignite that rivalry again. Joe Ryan get healthy cause we need the Joe Ryan experience in the stretch. Twins bullpen is finally coming together. Kody Fundetburk is finally a weapon, nice to see him have success. Winter I mean Minter is coming is a cool entrance. Old reliable Taylor Rodgers still in the fold. Gomez to finish games, gaining confidence.  There are finally some dudes that can pitch in the pen. I'm not trying to be a huge optimist but I like our team. Watching Buxton fly around the bases last night, and Bells huge blast. This team has a little something something cooking. I hope they are rewarded with playoff baseball. Go Twins.

Wow.  What remarkable resiliency this team shows!  After the Philly debacle I was hoping they'd win 1 vs the MLB elite Braves.  So glad I didn't bet the farm against the sweep!  But don't be too upset with comments about calling a bush play for what it is.  That is just truth.  This is MLB and it's ok to expect MLB performance and to call it out when it isn't.  Bring up the new guys because we might upgrade to complete ballplayers who can hit AND play defense?  Like we used to, remember?  Look at our new SS!  I rest my case.

This team has fought all year long.  But in any prior year this team would not be in the hunt for the playoffs which is the intrigue of this year.

1987 they'd still be in the ALW mix.

2006 Cardinals won 83 regular season games, then the World Series.

Wowzers you found 2 years where they still wouldn’t have a playoff spot secured. I like this team and they have potential, but they’re still a sub .500 team in late August.

If you only seek the negative you will find it. The Yankees are losers because they haven't won a World Series in years. Aaron Judge is always injured. Paul Skenes is mediocre. We read all the time that MLB needs every team to have a chance to compete. Well 24 clubs have a decent chance reach a .500 record. Do we say there aren't any good teams. There are a ton of good players and every team can win on any given day. Some years the hot team wins at the end of the year. Toronto had a great run last season and after selling at the deadline the Blue Jays are getting hot again. There are still 34-35 games left in the season. This season will be over soon enough but it has been a fun year to watch Twins baseball and that includes the losses too.

I’m about as optimistic of a fan as they come. I said this team would be .500- we were bound to have some hitters outperform, I thought Bradley could do well and I said the bullpen would do better than expected.  This year in the AL has no elite teams. So yes a chip and a chair and see if you can get hot.

The thing I don't understand is how the American League being down in overall talent this year is used against the Twins. 

Down Year? That's a good thing... Take advantage.

It makes investing at the deadline look a little more prudent.

I keep reading these comments from our community. Not from you... but from others.

When they talk about how this team isn't a contender, isn't playoff worthy, a majority of them will add that they are only in it because the American League is so weak this year and use it against the Twins. It makes no sense to me. 

A weak AL... Let's think about that... I've thought about it... That's Good... Take advantage of a weak American League. Throw your hat in the ring. 

Does anyone think the birds are looking at a spilled grain truck and thinking to themselves. Don't touch it... It's too easy.

Or do they get while the getting is good.

Regardless of what happens over the next 5 weeks, this season's been fun. I think what has been the most enjoyable is that just when you think the team is ready to hit rock bottom and flame out, they do something crazy...like sweep the Atlanta Braves. There is a lot of 'want-to' and fight in this group and while I won't take a deep dive on Rocco's tenure, those qualities didn't exist the last few seasons.

You are correct, you play the schedule you are given and you take the results you produce.  And they are competing in the AL something 3 teams have not been able to do.

While I am enjoying this year, I am hoping the front office is taking a realistic view of what it takes to compete in the future.  Will the American League continue to be this even or will more teams pull away.  I want the front office to be thinking and acting on how to be one of the teams to pull away.

But you have enjoy being in a pennant race at the end of August and having something to play for yet.

I agree with you. I want them consistently keeping one hand on the future steering wheel. 
 
However… 2026 is set. Let’s get into the playoffs and calibrate in the off season. 
 

More youth and less one year filler is always my hope.
