He is out of the all star game.

How do they go about replacing starters? Wonder if Kody Clemens is a potential replacement (not as a starter, of course)? Gotta imagine Shelton has some sway since he's on the coaching staff.

They will probably go down the line of who was next in voting.  Clemens is not an all star, keep the hopes down.

So it sounds like Jeffers in Iowa with the Saints.  Why is he not up here, we have plenty of catchers, he doesn't have to catch every day.  Someone take Zoll's dartboard away so maybe he will make a decision on his own.

I hope it doesn't go by the voting.  That will mean that either 95 OPS+ Varsho or -0.5 WAR Sanchez is in the AS game.  Blame Canada.

My guess is he's back right after the break Fedko's days are numbered...that would give Jeffers and the Twins 3 weeks to showcase him before the deadline.

If you don't need him for a Cleveland series what do you need him for?

Why wait, what is going to be accomplished with the Saints that can't be accomplished with the Twins.  They say they want to compete than get him up here if he is healthy.

Watch Caratini get hurt and force our hand. Eww I can't believe I even put that out into the universe.

Theo Tollefson:

On the Saints side, #MNTwins  catcher Ryan Jeffers will continue his rehab assignment for the next few days.

And Cole Sands is beginning a rehab assignment and is scheduled to pitch an inning tonight.

For everyone hoping for trades or smart moves around the deadline do you really believe in Zoll making the right or best move for the team.  So far he has shown no idea of a plan and everything is very random.  He kept Gray up here to play SS and moved Lee to 3B when Lee actually grades better than Gray at SS.  And there was plenty of time to call up Culpepper before he was hurt.  Move Jeffers if you have to, but I wouldn't trust this guy to sell a used car.

True. In any event, he's just a couple hours away. They could call him up any day now.

There is no reason for him not to be up here today then if he is healthy.

I dunno. Probably giving Fedko a chance to start in CF since we're facing a lefty tonight. Bring up Jeffers and platoon Kreidler/Roden in CF until Buck comes back.

Hope you're all ready for more Tristan Gray (I think I'm his lone supporter on here). Unless they decide to bring Arcia back up.

You do know there is no rule that says you have to platoon players.  Players that hit LH are allowed to face LH pitchers.  The obsession with platoon matchups does not need to be a factor in every decision.  Put your best players on the roster.

And you could just as easily send out Gray for Jeffers even if you are his supporter, the infield is covered.  But Zoll may not have that option on his dartboard.

I’m a little surprised they didn’t activate Jeffers today. Also it appears that Ober is going to make one more rehab start, so the Twins aren’t rushing their experienced players back and they’re taking the cautious path with Buxton. I’d love to see them win the series with Cleveland.

Having said that he will probably go 3-4 and stick around.😇
