He has a role. Face their better hitters later in games. It's what many teams do now.

Every plate appearance batting leadoff eh? I seem to see him struggling batting runs in when he's up with runners on base. In the spirit of hunting for the good I'm glad Buck is one of very few that can hit a ball into the seats.

Yep, every single one.  That's exactly what I said.

It cannot be argued that he hasn't had disproportionately fewer opportunities to drive runners in given his number of times at bat.  I know he had a rough stretch with RISP, but are we seriously thinking that he forgot how to hit with runners on?  Or is it statistical noise in a small sample?

Odd timing that it seems everyone has decided to start complaining about his low RBIs when he now has 9 in the last 9 games

He is still the guy I want to have at bat with runners in scoring position. But yeah, that's what I'm arguing about. He hasn't been good with RISP this season. Hence why his RBI is crazy low.

For me, it’s not the numbers, it’s just that there have been more than one games where he’s come on, bases loaded bottom of the 9th with two outs just to be the last hitter of the game. I’m glad he’s barreling the balls, but leadoff only affects that first at bat.

And the fact that the RBI is an overrated statistic...according to some so-called experts (wink, wink)

not complaining at all -  but 0-23  to start the year  with r.i.s.p  is a FACT , not a feel good ,  personally i wish Atlanta would make a offer  to see what we could get ~!

Leadoff just means he gets the most PA in a game, and I'm a-okay with that given this cast of characters in the lineup.

Is Banda not available? I thought that would have been his spot there.

Orze got 5 outs on just 15 pitches. He had thrown just 8 in the first inning. It was worth letting him keep going for the 8th.

I'd argue that having the worst hitters in the lineup batting in front of you affects more than just your first at bat, especially when the numbers explicitly show he's getting fewer opportunities with runners on

Hey  Luke now that your getting extra time in the Dugout - Might wanna think about what got ya here - quit only trying to pull everything , all those outside corner pitches your letting go are what got ya here ,  take 1 swing goin for the fence what your doin now -after that strikes 2-3  are for the Team , or your next position wont be in the Dugout for Defense , it will be with the Saints !!   im a big fan of his !!!!!!

That means he's 7-22 (.318) with RISP since that awful start since he's 7-45 on the year.

That's why we shouldn't overreact to small samples

Buxton leads that category for good or bad. 2nd place on that list Yandy Diaz has 46 RBI this year.

BREAKING: One of the only stars on this team should get the most plate appearances in any game played

I'm not saying he shouldn't be batting near or even at the top of the lineup.  He shouldn't be batting any lower than 2nd.

I'm saying it shouldn't be held against him when it naturally supresses his RBI opportunities
