It's not the way the game used to be played, nor was it accepted to play it that way, regardless of the norm now. Jeffers' mission was accomplished. The play is still live. There are only 2 outs. Things can happen if you force the other team to make a play. Not likely, but sometimes it is successful if a player makes the action happen. This is no different than a runner not running the ground ball out, or watching a fly ball from the plate that you think is a homer and only getting to first instead of a double because it bounced off the wall.

If that is stupid baseball **** to talk about it, then I plead guilty.

I'll agree that the game isn't played the same, but I'm okay with the C not getting into a long rundown to end the inning. 

Not running hard to first or admiring a deep fly ball, I also agree should not happen and should not be allowed to continue to happen. It happens so rarely however that guys that run hard every play are pointed out as being different, i.e. he hustles every play, he plays hard, he doesn't take a play off, etc...

He was 5-4-2 career against the Rangers and never faced them in the play-offs....
