Not if you followed the Red Sox this season, as I have.

When Cora won his World Series all those years ago, HE LITERALLY MANAGED THE HIGHEST PAYROLL IN BASEBALL.

Which can be very difficult because of pressure to win. Watched Duran special on Netflix and saw no implosion in clubhouse. Maybe you were there and saw it happen.

Good lord man, do you think they traded Raffy because things were so awesome?

This conversation started with me saying Rocco has never lost a clubhouse as Cora did this season. That’s literally how Rocco is better.

Devers being a jackass doesn’t really equal losing the whole clubhouse IMO.

Read a bit about how the players from the Giants have reacted to Dever's attitude..

Wasn’t Cora’s decision came from front office. Alcala a success there is telling about Twins staff.

There was a lot of conflict from several angles. Devers has become a problem, it seems, but management bears a lot of responsibility for how that played out. Raffy didn’t just become an ******* overnight, Breslow and Cora contributed heavily to that problem.

Well they wanted a better team and signed a significantly better fielder in Bregman. Devers’ ego got in the way and he whined the second the signing happened.

We might have been better off with Varland.

Part of the reason why I hate trying to force five bullpen innings. Odds are at least one of them will be shaky. While statistically every reliever is better than SWR the third time through the order, you’re relying on five guys to all have their **** together on the same night. Odds aren’t great that will be the case.

And it really chews up the pen, both short term and long.

Not the way that played out. I literally edited dozens of articles on the subject as Sox writers agonized over it. All parties contributed to the problem and personally, I absolutely would not want Breslow anywhere near my team. Smart guy, doesn’t seem to have a a lick of knowledge how to manage people.

Truer words may have been spoken but never so than about the Twins

Yeah, the Twins' BP is rested because of the off day yesterday. They can't do it five days out of five, but they can get away with it for a lot of games. There was a comment earlier in the thread stating categorically that the Twins wouldn't make postseason. It would be fireable for Rocco to manage for 2026 now. He's trying to win today and believes Coulombe, Stewart, Sands, Varland and Durán have a better chance of winning than Woods Richardson pitching the sixth. I don't like it, but most managers do the same thing. So far, the Twins have really had good health in their bullpen especially considering the pitchers' injury history and the back end has been very good. Will they wear down in September? Maybe, but they need wins right now.

This seems to always be the comeback, everyone is doing it.  Not to the degree the Twins do.  We saw an example not too long ago with KC, they had a rookie pitcher Noah Cameron, a 7th round draft pick go 7 against the Twins.  In his 11 starts, he has gone into the 7th 6 times and the 6th twice.  Milwaukee has done the same with their rookie, because they were effective.  Sim has been effective in his last 4 starts and needs to be given the chance to go longer.  There will come a game where the bullpen won't be available for 4 innings and they will need him to go longer.  Give him a chance to grow and develop so he can do that.

Again...he has already shown his colors with the Giants....he is on a different team and still a jerk...I was at a Boston game and witnessed him being a total jerk to a kid who asked for an autograph.. it is unnecessary to curse at a 10 year old who simply asked for an autograph...

Jax powers his way out of the jam. So far Rocco's strategy is working. Going into the 9th with a rested Duran ready to  rock and roll with a lead is all we can ask for.

But 5 relievers is not sustainable over the course of the season.

If Rocco is really as bad as some claim, then they must've had some Murderers Row-level talent over the course of his tenure.  The way he gets talked about, you'd think he has some string of 100+ loss seasons.  He's never lost 100 in a season.  He's never even lost 90 in a season.

He's not a good tactician.  He generally becomes too focused on winning a matchup to the detriment of winning the game (ex - pinch hitting too early, which he has backed off of to a degree this year).  He's good at keeping good vibes rolling, which is why they get on these extended hot streaks more often than teams of their caliber should.  But he's also not great at getting the team out of a tailspin either

Overall, that adds up to fairly mediocre.  If I'm a Pohlad, I'm moving on from him.  But not the worst in the league.  Let's try to have some perspective.
