Morneau, Plouffe, Perkins, and Pablo. There were a few moments where a pxp guy would've come in handy, but overall I liked it. They got to stick with their stories and points longer as they weren't always stopping for game action, stating the count, etc. Would be a good alternate feed if they ever go that route S Bart, David HK and Patzky 2 1
David HK Verified Member Posted July 9, 2025 Posted July 9, 2025 Post game musings: Pretty cool that July 4 game where the Cubbies hit 8 homers- #7 Dansby Swanson hit the 7th HR, caught in the stands by-- a guy in a Dansby Swanson jersey! And tonight- Justin Turner (who looks like a guy with his behind buried in a couch with a built-in beverage holder) hit a HR ball caught by-- his absolute look-a-like, who probably DOES own a couch with a built-in beverage holder. Also- Joey "The Pennant" Wentz... ex-Twin soon, perhaps? Inshallah. Patzky 1
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 9, 2025 Posted July 9, 2025 Talent is what is lacking for the Twins. If Rocco is fired, it will be because he and his staff haven't developed talent to stay competitive. I think that's really true with the hitters and I blame the front office to a degree because so many players on the team are bat-first or bat-only. If the Twins add on enough half the time that they don't have to all of their high-leverage guys, it reduces the stress on the BP and minimizes defensive flaws and the team's lack of speed. And if they score in the middle innings they have enough cushion to keep their young starter another inning or two. Their offensive production and development has been disappointing and it's hard to take off the training wheels when about three or four pitches can turn the game around. The second guess on the manager for pulling or not pulling a pitcher is always 20-20. I've agreed that Rocco doesn't look like a top tactician, but better well-rounded talent executing serve to make questionable decisions work out just fine. I'd love to see a team that six or seven base stealing threats and more power sprinkled through the lineup, but there hasn't been much development. Parfigliano and Danchat 2

They hung on to Bride for about a month too long and now seem enamored with Wentz. Somebody, anybody can do better IMHO and he's taking up a valuable 40-man spot. David HK, Parfigliano and RpR 2 1

And...if you count the Washington years, Irish born manager Patsy Donovon, (from May 11 - October 10, 1904) posted a record of 37-97 (.276 winning percentage) as his team finished 60 games back of the Boston Americans.. Baldelli is far from the worst Twins' manager...he just rubs me the wrong way too often.

Say what you will about Baldelli, but he doesn't murder his best bullpen arms in May. I really like Paul Molitor, but his bullpen management was terrible. It's the same tendencies Pat Murphy in Milwaukee has, though Molitor cranked it to 11.
