I have no idea why Seattle or Minnesota didn’t pony up in the offseason for Pete Alonso. He would have done so much good for either team.

Sure, but it would have taken more than a pony to get him out of New York.

No, he's not struggling to throw strikes, he's just struggling!

Since his blowup games April 16 and 18 (a month and a half ago) he has 19 appearances for 18 innings. ERA of 1.50. 31 Ks. FIP of 0.86.

I think it's time to give up your "Jax is struggling!" crusade. He's back to being one of the most dominant relievers in baseball.

Could have used Buxton's bat today.  He just had 10 days off, why now? Same goes for Lee over Lewis. Give them their off days against lesser opponents like the Athletics coming up.

Good point.

Great performance by Paddack. He deserved better. This stat is probably kept somewhere but the Twins appear to lead the league in infield hits allowed. Take a breath and go get 3 in Sacramento.

The pitch which Cal Raleigh golfed for a home run was a good pitch by Paddock. Sure, it was in the middle of the plate, but it was so low that it may have been out of the strike zone.

He was activated on Friday from concussion protocol, and immediately played 2 extra inning games.  I would guess it was pre-planned as a precautionary measure.

Good point.

I just watched the replay on MLB network & he struck out Raleigh with Rodriguez at 1B……..then Jeffers throws a ball, he never should have attempted to throw, into CF. …….Infield pulled in due to Jeffer’s error - next pitch the ball is a routine grounder to where the SS would have been ………2 outs & a guy on 3B w/o the error. Jax isn’t Superman - other guys gotta make the right plays. He’s fine!

Yeah, it was a gut wrenching loss yesterday, but you have to prioritize. You don't mess around with concussions. The same was done for Correa. Played 2 and got a game off to assess. Nice to see that they both looked great!

The games were stressful  , exciting and competitive  , unfortunately we lost the series ...

Paddack dominated again today , can't blame the pitching , offense did keep him from getting the loss by scoring 1 run to tie it up in the ninth , so can we blame the offense for lollygagging  ...

I can't resist , I'm blaming the manager on get away day for resting to many better players at one time ...

Why not have Correa have a Monday,  Castro on Tuesday,  buxton on Wednesday  , and so on  , have a better plan on giving the days rest , spread it out  ...

Let's have a better plan on resting our players Rocco and why is it the players that receive the most money are the one with the most rested days , rested days do not prevent injuries  ..

Maybe because the guys that cost more are older & more valuable???

Castro was 0-4, Correa was 0-4, Jeffers was 0-3…………only Vazquez & Buxton didn’t play at all.

They play the next 7 days straight from Monday forward & Buxton is coming off concussion symptoms. Oh, and he can’t hit sliders to save his life and Castillo has one of the best in the game………..

I don’t get the “better plan” issue?

Yeah, it wasn't a bad pitch at all; that $#*&%* is just hitting everything right now. After this series I feel like the Twins should give him the Bonds treatment: just walk his ass, because anything is better than letting him swing the bat on you. Oof he's good.

I'll admit I always worry when it looks like the Twins are playing a B-squad lineup on "getaway day", but I really can't fault the lineup selection that much. I get that there are some people who don't like rest days and hate having players who are injured a bunch, but Buxton getting a day off after playing 2 straight extra-inning games shortly after being in the concussion protocol seems more like smart player management rather than throwing away a game, especially since the only other "starter" with a day off was Brook Lee, who still played. Yes, we're a weaker lineup without Buxton in there, but we also need him playing regularly and he should get days off to keep him in the lineup for rest of the season.

Jeffers should never thrown the ball. It was a tough pitch to handle and the guy had a great jump. A mental mistake for sure that cost them the game. That’s something that worries me about the Twins: they make too many fundamental mistakes which are critical in close games.

They've got to figure out a way to get some offense. It's obvious Lewis needs a minor league trip. He's just another hole in our lineup we can't afford. Not sure who we have to call up that could help the team at this point, especially in the infield. Castro and Lee can cover 2nd and 3rd for now along with Clemens. Lee hasn't looked very good offensively either though. Hardly any power, all his hits are singles on the ground. If we're going to try for the playoffs, we're going to need to pick up a legit bat at the deadline. A good hitting 3rd baseman with some power would be nice. Hopefully Keaschal is back soon and can pick up where he left off.

Jax after a couple of rough outings to start has been his usual effective self.  He only gave up two runs in 14 appearances in May, I am not sure I would call that struggling.

ERA approaching 5.  Struggling is putting it nicely...

He has given up 14 earned runs and 7 were in two games in April.  In May he pitched in 14 games and in two of them he gave up a run in two of the games.  Yesterday he was hurt by Jeffers error.  I am not sure of your definition of struggling.

Pete Alonso signed a 2 year, $54,000,000 contract with the New York Mets, including $10,000,000 signing bonus, $54,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $27,000,000.

Twins or Seattle probably have to sweeten the deal to pull him away from the Mets. Only in our dreams would Twins ownership pull that trigger.

But yes, one more player like Alonso would of been a game changer.
