Is it time to put Festa in the pen? He looks like an ace for 4 innings and then things fall apart.

This is how the Twins train their pitchers in the minor leagues. Throw 75 pitches and you're done for the night. It's inevitable that this is the result in the majors.

Out of town and haven't seen any games Keaschall has played.  But don't recall him being a base stealing threat while in the minors.  Was he?  Is he fast or just really good at doing the little things at stealing?  Or are the Sox and/or their pitchers awful?

Anyhow, sure is exciting seeing what he is doing to energize the team.  Can he do the same for the fan base?  Maybe if Royce returns in the next few weeks and is the Royce we came to love the duo can turn this team around.

Keaschall has been getting great jumps. He's fast enough but that's not all of it.

Nice to see the offense come to life a bit. Buxton sure seems to be striking out a TON, but at least it's coming with some power. Bader is another K machine lately too. Correa is a whole other problem. He needs to be moved way down in the order. We cannot allow him to keep coming up with bases loaded or RISP. He is a double play machine, he will lead to majors for sure. Every time he makes contact it's a grounder to SS or 2nd. I haven't seen him even hit into an out that left the infield. Maybe when Lewis comes back Correa hits the IL for awhile or something. It's not like you can send him to the minors to find his swing.....

On another note, Keaschal has been a blast to watch. Looks like the real deal. Hope he keeps it up and fights for ROY votes!

Bingo.

Or 4 inning starts.

Keaschall makes watching fun. He is pretty fast but his trick is getting great jumps and getting up to speed really quickly. As for his fielding, he was awful. His arm was non existent on the throw from second and he wasn’t close to fielding that short hop. Hopefully first game in the field jitters.
If Lee hits he is my third baseman. He looks smooth and comfortable over there with quick enough hands for the hot shots. Clearly better than Royce there.
Felt bad for all the players from both teams. Laz Diaz was so bad and inconsistent that you really couldn’t know what to do as a hitter or a pitcher.
Finally, if pitchers want to go deeper in games they need to perform when that time comes. Festa got to the fifth and pretty much spit the bit.

Agreed - Sands isn’t bad though…….2 guys on & no outs……..better to hold them to 2 instead of the 3, for sure.

Bader is doing what he does against RH pitching. Really don’t get him not BUNTING 2 different times against RH pitching with no outs and guys on base……seems to be a strategic error!

I see he's sitting in favor of Keirsey today.

This is true. Correa can't drive the ball at the moment. So much weak contact.

Not bunting is on the manager. Terrible in game strategy.

I remain hopeful, DJL, that Correa will find one of his hot streaks...and soon.  That would enable the Twins to move him in July for an excellent return.

I don't know if I am alone in this opinion, but I believe the Twins made a huge mistake when they signed him (Note: I didn't think so at the time).  He doesn't appear, at least to me, to be the team leader a veteran making $35M needs to be.  So much of what I hear from him is about him.  Also am of the opinion that when ownership gave the ok to add $30+M to their budget that year knowing they would need to reduce it in future years, it was that reduction that enraged fans and expedited the dislike (I am not going to use that H word my granddaughter says we shouldn't use) most fans have of ownership today.

Hopefully, they can move on and get two excellent young guys, preferably a shortstop and catcher, who are close to big league ready, very good defensively, and have the potential to be better than average hitters.  Throw in another prospect from A ball and the team he is going to taking all his salary and I would say adios!

About that full no trade clause………

When Keaschall scored on a short fly ball in Atlanta, the graphic said his sprint speed on that play was 29.0 (Buxton is 29.5), that is in the elite range. I think his sprint speed on his last SB was measured at 27.9, which is above average, but not elite. He's fast and aggressive, but I don't think he's otherworldly.

Not to take anything away from Keaschall, but the second steal last night was an absolute must have, before the first pitch to the batter the pitcher had used both of his disengagements, so you have to go on the first move.

Like most players signed as pure free agents, Correa has a net negative future value. They could trade him for another team's overpriced free agent but a deal for top young prospects is a pipe dream.

This is the last place world series and we are serious - 6 pitchers in a 9 inning game - try to keep that going.  Love what Keaschall has contributed and hope it keeps going.   But to have all those base runners stranded in the first few inning is not a good sign.

It is STILL not a good sign that the hitters are coming out of their funk with runners on base  ...

Clutch hitting is needed for this team to be even be considered a serious contender , if you can't come through in the clutch against the White Sox  , do you expect it to change against other teams and their better pitchers ...

I liked that the hitters were taking the pitches to the opposite field last night , this has to continue  , because pulling an outside pitch usually results in an out ...

Let's hope they learn to hit opposite field hits , it was working last night getting men on base  , lefthanded hitters were also getting hits against lefthander pitchers  , Rocco has no choice to pinch hit because bench is short handed ....

Castro to IL list finally  ...

After that start, Festa has the highest WAR of any pitcher on the roster. 3 runs allowed in 13 innings.

Nice thought, and nice stat.  But 13 innings in 3 "starts"?  We need more than that out of our "starters".

Tough wins but a win is a win even if it’s against the white Sox!!! Need to get sweep today! Buxton has been awesome this series!!!  LK has given twins spark!!! Once twins are full health they will get back on track and get over .500 back in division race!

Does 3 strike outs = a home run?

I wrestle with that.

He does look good for 3 or 4 innings , came out for the 5th and lost everything  ...

In the minor as mentioned by others and reports on minor leagues I follow on TD ,  the pitchers don't usually go more than 5 innings , are we suppose to believe they are ace material if that is all the stamina they have , I sure hope not ...

We'll see how he pans out , most likely in 3 years he'll be a bullpen pitcher ...
