That is not a slump, that shows he may never be able get to the Major League, as most Minor League players never do. Wallner and Julien are both better fielders than Lewis, but Lewis can hit Major League pitching very well, they cannot. There is no universe where Ed Julien is a better fielder than Royce Lewis. Why are Julien, Kirilloff and Wallner down in the minors?. I did my ranting about short sided platoon in the winter. I hated the roster decisions. As for the three players it is more likely that the league adjusted and they need to adjust back. Major league pitching exposed their weaknesses and now they need to overcome them. In Julien’s case I hope the demotion is a short one. DocBauer and Riverbrian 2

By your short leash standards, every young player who struggles a bit should just be dismissed. Better RAKE when you hit the Majors kid, because there's no going back! Is that what you propose? I've never stated Wallner is going to be a STAR player. But he's demonstrated real ability at ALL levels. I sure wouldn't give up on a young talent who hit a bump in the road. Yep, the Orioles should just DFA that worthless kid they brought up earlier this year. Seriously, you know how this works. Borrowing Mike Sixel's description .... Development is not linear. Most of us understand that the most crucial aspect of building a contender in a market outside the top 1/3 in revenue is development. So, go ahead and root for the thing that is absolutely essential to success and ignore those who for some reason seem to hope a prospect fails. DocBauer 1

tarheeltwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 How much would Jose Abreu cost the Twins?

I'd be all for signing him to a St Paul contract. Give him 100 PAs and see what happens. He's apparently fallen off a cliff, but as recently as 2022 he was still reeling off .800-.900 OPS's like clockwork. He wasn't good last year, but it wouldn't be unprecedented for a player of his caliber to have a great half season left in him at 37. What's there to lose? tarheeltwinsfan 1

He was not good at Short Stop so the Twims moved him to 3rd Base because he has a good bat.. His AAA fielding number at 3rd Base, two stints, 18 games in 2023 were a combing .932. Linus 1

When he was with Salt River he spent most of his time at 3rd base; Twins trided his at SS again and he continued to be below average so they had no choice if he wanted to play major league but to put him on 3rd Base. He stunk at SS.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 By the way, where is Alex Kirilloff? He had plenty of time to get to Louisville for the weekend. I know players are allowed some time (if they choose) before they report, but it has been like five days.
