Pulling Varland was a decision made hours before the game even started. Results, pitch count, nothing mattered but Rocco's ego.

If Lewis, Julien, Wallner, and Kepler didn’t go nuclear in the 2nd half of 2023, we would be talking about how bad the offense has been for 2+ years. This team is closer to a full rebuild than a WS appearance.

I agree. Being caught in this never-ending cycle of “anything can happen” mediocrity is brutal…it simply postpones the process of building something truly good.

Building something good requires good ownership and a good front office. Twins have neither.

The Twins don't have a middle of the order. No big studs, who play every day and put up  .900+ OPS every year. Without those types, it's really hard to build an offense that consistently creates scoring opportunities. 

Maybe Lewis will be one someday. 

Other than maybe that, they aren't going to have one for a while either.

I don’t understand how it’s an ego thing.    I don’t buy that it’s solely a Rocco thing, the front office clearly wants him to continue to script out games like this or this would have changed by now. It’s a collaborative decision premade alongside other cooks in the kitchen. Don’t get me wrong, I’m for Rocco getting sacked, but only alongside Falvine going too - they’ll just hire another guy who will execute their plan and the same criticism will mar the new manager as well.

By the way-  I just put up a new post, because I'm making my way back to the USA this summer, with a stop at Target Field- for the 1st time!  (My last Twins home game was at the DOME!)

It looks like I'll try for the ChiSox series, early August- just finalizing itinerary this week.  But it would be great if you'd check out that post, and perhaps we can set up a TDer meetup at Target!
