Twins now 1-7 against the Yankees, Dodgers, and Orioles.

The past two games they've scored 1 combined run in two games against very hittable pitchers.

Maybe - and call me crazy - this team really isn't that good. Maybe that 12 game winning streak really was just because they were playing some of the worst baseball teams to take the field in the 21st century? Maybe - just maybe - relying on guys like Ryan Jeffers and Carlos Santana to carry this team on offense isn't sustainable?

Stop twisting yourselves into knots trying to justify these losses. It's simple: The Twins are getting destroyed by the Yankees because the Yankees are much better than them in every category. The Twins are getting swept today. You know it, I know it, the Yankees know it, and the Twins know it. Same old story since 2002.

and they're 7-3 vs. the Mariners, Blue Jays, and Red Sox. All good teams.

Nobody expected to continue to win at a 17 out of 20 clip. Unfortunate for the run to have ended against, of all teams, the Yankees. Last year was great fun but possibly a fluke.

Also, is there no accountability for the players? Castro is allowed to stay in and play the entire game tonight. After not knowing how many outs there were and chucking the ball into the stands presumably because he didn’t like getting booed….AFTER he cost the team at least 3 runs last night with mental lapses and misplays….cant have it. I guess accountability is too old school and not important in today’s data driven game.

There are other ways to hold players accountable besides benching.

Castro has earned a little stick for his defensive lapses recently. But he's still been good overall.

I was happy to see the twins draw some walks against the Yankees, but apparently right now it's an either/or situation with the offense: walks or hits, but not both! Not great. Offense has really looked flat the last 2 games. 7 or 8 baserunners a game simply isn't enough. (This is not news)

I'm not panicking or anything, but it's really annoying to lose to the Yankees. I hate losing to the ChiSox the most, but then it's the damned Yankees. (probably followed by Cleveland?) I hate the arrogance and entitlement of the franchise, I hate how the media treats every midwest club that plays them as automatically being lesser, unworthy of attention or interest. I hate the fact that they can make stupid trades and signings and simply buy their way out of it. (I do love the fact that they haven't won a pennant or a title in 15 years, though, despite all their money. because it burns their fans up)

Hope the Twins can at least avoid the sweep. we're right in the division race, and I'd hate for a sweep to the damned Yankees to make people turn on this team again. because it feels like there's a portion of the fanbase that's looking for a reason to trash the club again, and that's really no fun at all.

Don’t turn this into Facebook-to many negative idiots who badmouth twins win or lose

Those are .500 or below .500 teams who are not even in the same zip code as the Yanks, Dodgers and O's.

To those crying for Castro not to be in center, you get your wish today:

Kirilloff, Margot and Vazquez - a black hole. That's 3 innings-worth of automatic outs that the Yankees are being handed.

Yankees at +102 is free money, bet the house on it.

Blue Jays are 5-4 vs. Mariners, Yankees (3-3, despite not being in the same zip code)
Mariners are 9-10 vs. Red Sox, Rangers, Braves, Blue Jays, Guardians, and Brewers.

Reasonable baseball fans understand winning records against the best teams doesn't happen frequently. The best teams steal wins from each other and have decisive advantages on the season over weaker teams.

Best team in baseball will go 6-4 in a 10 game period.
Worst team in baseball will go 4-6 in a 10 game period.

like what? Sending him to bed without the postgame spread?

I haven't been a baseball manager, but as a manager in a lot of other situations, I've found that public humiliation is rarely the most effective way to motivate people for positive change.

Another key part of managing people is knowing them well enough to discern what kind of accountability is going to be most helpful in which situation.

We also have no idea what's happening behind closed doors. Look at today's lineup, for example. Might the fact that Margot is in center today rather than Castro be a part of the accountability equation? If I'm remembering correctly, last season Kepler had a couple mental gaffes in the midseason and later credited some significant conversations with Rocco as being key to his turning his season around.

Twins 1-7 against Yankees, Dodgers, and O's.

Seems like you're making the other person's argument for him, rather than refuting it.

Where oh where has the offense gone?

If I didn't know better I'd have thought the Yankees rolled out Cy Young, Nolan Ryan, and Christy Mathewson against the Twins this series. The Twins have had 7 hits and 1 run; 4 hits and 0 runs, and 3 hits and 0 runs today through 6 innings. Twins are making the Yankee pitchers all look like Cy Young candidates. At least Twins aren't striking out as much as they had earlier in the year,

The Twins pitching hasn't been super but not as as the offense.

Well as a fan my mentality doesn't produce wins or losses. You can be a realist fan or unrealistic fan that is up to each individual. I was hoping for a sweep would have been super happy with two wins, but expecting the Twins to go 1 - 2 against a better team. My point was this series wouldn't have anything to do with playing the Yankees in the playoffs because hopefully they would have Lewis, Buxton and Stewart and that would help even out the teams.

You do realize they have injuries also and are missing their best pitcher?
