OvertheHill Verified Member Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Stating the obvious but Ober should have been allowed to start the inning. I’ve seen nothing from Okert that gets me excited. hitterscount and MMMordabito 2

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 "Best bullpen in baseball." How TF do you give up an 0-2 linedrive to Javier Baez? He literally will swing at anything. ANYthing. MMMordabito and mrtwinsfan 1 1

OvertheHill Verified Member Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Let me know if you’ve heard this before. Largely effective Twins starter with modest pitch count gets pulled, things go south. howeda7 and hitterscount 2

KirbyDome89 Verified Member Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Literally throw a ball in the opposite batters box and Baez will swing at it. How anybody gives up a hit to that guy is beyond me... USAFChief 1
Danchat Verified Member Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Gotta agree on Okert, he's been quite rubbish so far this year - only 6 innings and in that span he's given up 12 baserunners. Looks like Sands threw a well-located 0-2 pitch to Baez, he just did a great job of making contact on that ball out of the zone.

Early in the 1974 season, Nolan Ryan struck out 19 batters over 13 innings. Lest the young’uns among you scoff at this old-timey bit of trivia…this is in an era when the name of the game was putting the ball in play…and players had the approach and skill to do so. Point being…he was throwing HARD…all 13 innings. And he pitched another 20 years after that. Not that we can use Nolan Ryan as an ‘example’ career…still, what happened? RpR 1

Tlaker Verified Member Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Why are they swinging at the first pitch so often?

MMMordabito Verified Member Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Now pinch hitting for Best Hitter is Worst Hitter. What do you think of the move, Justin? Parfigliano 1
Danchat Verified Member Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Holy barnacles... you can't have Santana pinch hit! Certainly not for Kirilloff! Parfigliano 1
