Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 The other thread one what you're watching is like 35 pages deep, so I thought it would be good to start a new one. What are you watching? What have you watched? What are your recommendations? I'm all over the place in what I enjoy watching. I've watched stuff from a variety of genres. I feel like I should start a blog on all the different stuff I've watched. Maybe that would make it worth all the hours I've binged shows. Ha!
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 Monarch, legacy of monsters.... It's got issues, not sure how I feel Just finished lessons in chemistry, which is great, but starts out a bit depressing. Picard.... In season one, no idea why this is so hated. We liked it. Reacher .... If you liked season one, you'll like season two. Foundation.... We really like this. So different than the books, but great adaptation.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 I’m not watching anything new, but just started binging ‘Suits’. Never saw it when it out, so watching it now. Enjoying it so far, but I’m only in season 2. Also watched the movie ‘Maestro’, on Netflix. I thought it was exceptional.

Monarch is still confusing to me, and there is just too many issues for me to love it. Reacher - yup, finished, same as season one, mostly. It's fine for what it is.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 I rotated to HBO Max this month to watch the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm and True Detective: Night Country. Really enjoying both shows so far. Netflix: Suits for background noise while doing other things. Luther: The Fallen Sun was a good flick if you are familiar with the Luther tv series. Amazon Prime: I finished Reacher season 2. Good, mindless series with enough action to keep you entertained. Jury Duty was a way better show than I thought when I stumbled upon it. Well worth the watch. Seth Stohs and Mike Sixel 2

Indseym Verified Member Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Just finished "The Bear" and it's amazing! If you're into intense kitchen dramas with a lot of heart, definitely give it a shot. Also rewatched "Stranger Things" because why not?

I've read that it isn't advancing the plot at all anymore, and is relying on being THE BEAR......but I've only seen that in two spots, so who knows? I assume you disagree?
Original_JB Verified Member Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Having fun watching Tulsa King. On a side note, I guess there's too much streaming as I got the following e-mail this afternoon: St. Louis Park ShowPlace ICON at the West End has ended operations effective today. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to our guests for your unwavering support, loyalty, and enthusiasm over the many years. For those guests that have purchased advance tickets from the ShowPlace ICON website or app for showings after July 1, your tickets have been automatically refunded to the credit card used for purchase. All advance tickets purchased through Fandango or Atom Tickets are being refunded directly from those sites. Depending on your credit card bank processing, please allow 7-10 business days for the refund to show on your account. Thank you

I assume you disagree? It's definitely trying to be more experimental with it's episodes this year, so the folks who were most into the drama are likely turned off somewhat. But it's season three, even if it was great, the backlash was predictable in today's TV world. Season 1: A few people find a great new show and tell everyone they know about it. Season 2: It starts to build a sizable following and everyone awaits the next season. Season 3: The reviewers and original fans get resentful because they liked when only they were analyzing and talking about the show, and it's way more popular to be a contrarian than to be the last person to think a show is still fun. I'm not saying there's not criticism to be had, but if Breaking Bad season three was playing right now, people would be jumping ship in fear of being accused of being passé. Mike Sixel 1

Yeah, looks like ICONs nationwide closed. Nice to see someone do a quick flip (and keep the employees). I was wondering what would they do with such a large, defined place, considering how many years that Toby Keith location has sat empty.
Wellimam Verified Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 I’ve been jumping between genres too lately. I recently watched The Bear—it’s intense but really gripping. Also enjoyed Ted Lasso for something lighter. If you’re into sci-fi, give The Expanse a try; it’s got a great storyline and solid character development. A blog sounds like a fun idea! It’d be a good way to track all those hours and maybe help others find their next binge.

shortround81 Verified Member Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Big fan of Taskmaster (the British version. No offense, Australia). If you like Letterkenny, Shoresy is pretty good. Don't watch it with your grandma, though. Lots of language and scantily clad ladies. I really liked Will & Harper, the documentary Will Ferrell did with Harper Steel (former head writer for SNL).
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 Finally started Lower Decks. Quite enjoying it.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Started watching Cross on Amazon Prime. A series based on the Alex Cross book series by James Patterson. 2 episodes in and I’m hooked! Amazon Prime knocked it out of the park with this show.

After those it got pretty soapy and formulaic and probably haven't read one in 20 years. I'll admit, the previews looked good though. Though, if I'm honest, I saw this thread had a hit for the first time in a month and came to see if someone was posting that Mike Tyson died live on Netflix.
