Kirk should be brought back next year and a quarterback can be drafted if one is available. Kirk is outstanding and gives us the best chance to win.

Bringing back Kirk will result in losing at least one of Darrisaw, Jefferson, or Hunter. I would rather get off the ride one year too early vs. one year too late. Kirk is 36 and the cliff is approaching for him soon.

Simply put, the Vikings are 4-4 this season with Kirk. And 3-3 without him. Yes, a lot went into those records beyond QB play. But let’s not make Kirk Cousins out to be more than he was.

He was putting up MVP numbers though. You aren’t replacing those numbers easily

Those MVP numbers got us to a .500 record.

My top priorities are to re-sign Hunter and give Brian Flores a blank check to remain as DC.

Turnovers killed us in the first few games. Prime Tom Brady wasn’t overcoming a -9 turnover differential. Once they settle down we started winning.

Which Kirk contributed plenty towards that number. 12 turnovers for him. It feels like there’s a bit of ex girlfriend syndrome here. You’re fondly remembering the good times with Kirk and forgetting he’s had plenty of unspectacular, to downright awful games in his Vikings tenure.

How many awful games has he had in the last couple years? Kirk was a top 10 (maybe #10 to be fair) qb the last two seasons. Who’s replacing that production? Jaren Hall? Unknown draft pick? I don’t want to lose any of those guys you mentioned either, but Danielle Hunter with a below average QB isn’t great either. Can’t win anything with a mediocre or below average QB

This year the first Chicago game (3 turnovers) and the Carolina game (139 yards passing 3 turnovers)

Last year Philly, Dallas, and Green Bay. He has 4-5 games where he looks like an MVP, 4-5 games where he looks like one of the worst starting QBs in football, and the rest are between meh and good.

Who’s replacing that production? Well that’s why Kwesi is paid the big bucks. I am hoping they draft a QB early and roll with them.

The reality is there is not enough money to afford a Kirk contract, Jefferson/Darrisaw extensions, and Hunter. I’m not prioritizing paying a 36 year old QB fresh off Achilles surgery when there is lots of examples of QBs falling off a cliff in their late 30s.

They did increase the cap about $17 million

Looks like the rams will go to 7-7. Packers will drop out at 6-8. Saints are 7-7 and play the rams next week. Just have to see what the Seahawks do tomorrow

Kirk QB rating rank by year:

2020: 8

2021: 4

2022: 14

2023: 4

If 2024 Kirk is closer to 2022 Kirk (which, to me, is likely) than I think I'd rather have the Vikings target someone in the draft or find someone else. I agree with the idea of jumping off one year early over one year late.

That said, I suspect the Vikings are looking around at the league and saying, "If Kirk were healthy, we'd be able to compete with anyone." I don't think that's true but I suspect that's KOC's mindset. I would bet we bring Kirk back on a three year deal.

If you don't think Nix or penix is a legit starter, they aren't getting one in the draft. The top three will go way before they pick. Way before.

It's entirely possible we lose the final 3 games and end up with a pick in the early teens. If Daniels is their guy, moving up to take him in the top 10 won't be too expensive.

Even if we end up 9-8 and pick in the early 20's, trading into the top 10 isn't crazy expensive. The range of outcomes is wild over the next 3 weeks.

It’s not that crazy a thought. 7 losses by a total of 26 points (3.7 point average per loss). They beat the apparent best team in the NFC. The defensive improvement has been obvious, yesterday notwithstanding. Turning it over to a rookie QB or a free agent…I don’t know. I gotta roll with kirko and maybe they can still draft a guy and let him sit a bit

Daniels is going in the top five. I'd trade up for him, but it don't be cheap

I think the Vikings will target McCarthy if they don't go with Kirk.

I'll believe the Vikings traded UP in the draft when I see it. Color me sceptical.

Reid is going to coach until he dies. Like, he literally has no life outside of coaching.

He's great in TV commercials.

Yeah, if they have to move up, they have to hold their noses and do it.

But Nix seems like the kind of guy, whom if he falls, he's going to have a chip on his shoulder. Those QBs are often the most dangerous and I'd be interested.
