Lol what a game changing move 😂

Doesn’t say much for their confidence in Hall

What would you expect? I don't get your first sentence at all....and disagree with your second.

It cost absolutely nothing to do....and says more about the non-Hall QBs than about Hall, imo. We'll know in a couple weeks....

Agreed, it says more about Mullens. Hall is almost certainly still starting this week; Dobbs isn't coming in and learning the offense in a week on a team that's apparently trying to win.

Mullens on the other hand was likely looking at the job two weeks from now if Hall didn't blow people away.

Which is fine I guess. I'd rather have Dobbs than Mullens. At least he can get outside of the pocket and make something work with his legs if needed. He doesn't look to be half as interception prone as Mullens either.

Dobbs has 16 career games and a passer rating quite a bit lower than mullens, who you are very low on.

What’s his ceiling

Your firs sentence was that it wasn't season changing.....what did you expect was my question, right? Like I said, it cost nothing in exchange for likely nothing.

The last season Nick Mullens got an extended run as a starter his QBR 36.3. He's not a good QB in any fashion. Not saying Dobbs is, but at least he can move and doesn't have more interceptions than games started.

We also traded Ezra Cleveland to Jacksonville for a 6th round pick. What

Probably needed to clear his salary to fit Mahomes under the cap.

Nothing for nothing, not season changing.  A move to make a move. Names like Winston and lance were floated around. Who knows if they were ever realistic trade possibilities but this is the equivalent of dropping a pebble in the pacific ocean

floated by whom? And Winston is terrible.....and Lance is very likely not available. No one that matters is available....it just doesn't matter.

Winston is terrible…has far better career numbers than Josh Dobbs 🤷🏼

More like aiming for the Pacific and hitting the beach

Not sure your point.... Dobbs cost zero. That's a statement about his worth.

Nobody knows what QBs were or weren’t available, but Dallas got trey lance for a 4th before the season…could the Vikings have gotten him for a 3 or 4? At least he would possibly have had meaningful worth beyond the remaining 9 games. Did we try? Who knows.

I’m going to need something more than “he cost nothing” in order to get excited about this deal. I mean the guy just got benched by a 1-7 team in favor of someone named Clayton Tune before the trade…

Regardless, maybe they’ll resign kirk in the off-season and none of this will matter

No one suggested getting excited. No one.. I am pretty sure I said it doesn't matter more than once.

I wanted Lance before the year also, but it appears not to be.

Bringing in Dobbs is fine, he is a sneaky good scrambler but was overmatched as a passer, but he'll have much better weapons and OL play to back him up... if they do have him start. It might be a move made because they just don't know when Mullens will be back.

Cleveland getting traded is surprising because it's been apparent they aren't going to extend him. But a measly 6th round pick in return is disappointing. There's simply no track record for a good guard (rated #8 by PFF!) getting traded mid-season in the past 10-15 years, I think most teams just never consider it, as continuity is valued more than a potential upgrade. Plus we are paying Risner to start, so they might as well keep playing him. Risner is a far worse run blocker than Cleveland so it is a blow to the OL's play.

Hunter remains, despite talking of him going for a 1st or a 2nd+3rd. Now they kinda have to extend him, or else letting him hit the market is a waste as we could have gotten prime draft capital for him.

This could be the only thing that makes sense about the move. As much as everyone dumps on mullens, he earned the #2 spot for two seasons now. Dobbs doesn’t seem to be any better of a passer than he is. How did mullens get hurt anyway?

Dobbs is what he is at this point in his career. This is the 5th team he’s been on. Nothing more than a backup who can maybe win a few games. It cost a maybe 15 spot drop from the 6th to the 7th round to acquire him.

To me, this move says more about Mullens’ likelihood to return from injury in the next couple of weeks.

The Ezra Cleveland trade feels like avoiding the difficult conversation of benching either him or Risner. The trade return was light, but oh well. Cleveland is in the sweet spot of performing well in a contract year. Some team is going to pay up for him thinking they are solving their interior OL woes. But by the mid point of the contract, they’ll wish they never offered him that money.

Case Keenum had  been with 3 teams in 4 years when he was brought in.

True. He was an underwhelming signing at the time. It’s unlikely Dobbs or Hall has a 2017 Keenum type run, but crazier things have happened in football.

I wish I had posted this a few days ago but I thought Risner made the OL better, which was surprising to me. I liked Cleveland at guard but the offense won the last two games without him and just looked better overall. Not sure if my eyes were right or not but the Vikes seem comfortable with Risner.

This is Dobbs’ third team, THIS YEAR
