Disconnect somewhere. With how long Kirk waits to relay the play to the other players, I assumed it was the HC and OC, but maybe it's HC and QB.

It seems like he's plugging his ears to hear the play with like 16 seconds left on the play clock way too often. Especially late in the game. I don't see other QBs waiting for calls. Just run a play.

Yeah, I can see young QBs struggling with this, but most other QBs Kirk's age just call something at the line of scrimmage. He does exactly what he's told just about every play, which has been really nice more often than not, but it would be better if the team had a take-charge Captain who's willing to ignore the General if his indecisiveness is going to run the troops into slaughter.

Vikings have place backup QB Nick mullens on IR and have signed former backup QB Sean Mannion lmao this season is a nuclear meltdown of terribleness. And a huge blow to any hopes of trading Kirko

Mullens and Mannion are the exact same QB as far as I can tell. If Kirk goes down or is traded, neither have any business stepping on the field over Hall.

Who in all likelihood will be all out terrible.

Couldn’t tell you how mullens would do but that one game mannion started in GB was bad. I remember him having the mobility slightly better than a statue. Obviously the season is lost so it doesn’t really matter but you can’t make a farce out of it either

I don't know why it would be a farce with Hall, but not the other two. Whether it's Mullens, Manion or Hall, the team is likely to score somewhere between 0 and ten points. It's a totally legit move to evaluate Hall before he's lost to oblivion next year when there's a new QB running things. Maybe he's a backup here, or maybe another club sees something they like (***resist option #3: Brock Purdy****). Either way, I'll be less inclined to tune into a game helmed by Mullens and Manion than I would be an unknown rookie.

It literally has zero impact on trading kirk (which was never happening after the season started). They both suck.

100x this. 1000000x .

They might both stink but Mullens is better than mannion. Mannion has thrown 110 passes in his entire 8 year career and mullens has starting experience. Mannion makes kirk look like tarkenton with his lack of mobility, and our terrible offensive like would probably get him killed.

Mullens has at least been here for the last two seasons. Had he not gotten hurt I would certainly have given him a better chance at giving a competent effort than mannion, who hasn’t even been on a roster since zimmer’s finale in Green Bay.

Who knows about the rookie, I guess it’s fair to give him a shot in a lost season. All I’m saying is that if Kirk could possibly be traded (and it’s still a possibility now that the season is shot), you’d have to have someone who could at least give a competent effort and I don’t think mannion is that guy and I doubt a rookie who’s never taken a snap would be either

Because mullens has been here, has starting experience and Mannion hasn’t been on a roster since zimmer’s last game. I guess maybe Hall could surprise people but what are the odds

Also I agree that kirko probably isn’t getting traded but if someone is willing to give us a high draft pick for him, why is it that crazy? The season is done. Over. Finished. And we have a Swiss cheese roster full of holes and a GM with a shaky track record of drafting

Sure, Mullens has experience, but it wasn't a good experience. I mean, this team is almost certainly going to lose with either, but they know they'll lose with Mullens because we know what he is. Like you said, Hall could surprise, even if the odds are lower. And I don't care about the optics. Losing 24-10 or losing 24-3 is the same in my book. Lose the way that's in your team's best long term interest and screw the sportsbooks and loudmouth commentators. Mike Florio can go ahead and climb up his own stubborn butt if he want's to complain about it.

Either way, it's not Mullens vs Hall anymore, it's Mannion.

I'd trade Kirk for a second, presuming that second could be packaged with our first (and other picks) to move up high enough to get a difference maker.

At 1-4 I would have said this team is better than it's record would indicate.

At 2-4 and after watching yesterday's game, this team is way worse than it's record would indicate.

And of course, those are the two wins that will give Chicago two better draft picks. GB, Atlanta, NO and Denver are train wreck teams too, but with only the Saints at home, I can't see the Vikings being favored in any of those matchups. If they win any of those games, it will certainly be because those teams crapped the bed worse than the Vikings.

I don't see much of a path for this team to score an offensive TD vs San Fran next week.

Mullens is actually a decent backup who can win you a game every once in a while and has some mobility, while Mannion is a QB coach who is still playing and has never actually been good at playing QB. Not even in preseason games.

It looks like Hall will be the backup until Mullens is back, so I don't think we'll have to worry about Mannion.

I don't like their chances this week, but if they can win this, everything changes for their outlook, IMO.

Yeah, big difference between 3-4 and 2-5. Also, SF is a really, really good team (loss to Cleveland not withstanding) so to win it without Jefferson probably means something good clicked.

And somehow the Cleveland defense has flown under the radar as being really, really good. They've given up fewer yards than any team in the history of the game through five games.

The Vikings defense isn't going to keep them in many games.

When these guys were hired, there was all of this talk about “collaboration” for all decisions. Whelp, it’s hard to collaborate during tough times like this.

Take Danielle Hunter for example. As a GM, how can you turn down a 2nd round pick from a team like Jacksonville if you have no plan to extend him? As a HC, how are you not pounding the table to keep Danielle Hunter no matter the cost? If he’s traded, the defense becomes a bottom feeder that can’t rush the QB at all.

If they don't extend him and don't trade him, I'll be bummed. You can collaborate, and disagree sometimes. Those aren't mutually exclusive.

Over on a Vikings site, someone is arguing that even if they lost tomorrow, they'd still be in good shape to do something in the playoffs.....I have no words

That person is off their meds.

That's funny. Maybe they think if you finish 2nd in your division you automatically get a playoff spot? That's the only way I could see it make sense.

They think they'll win 5 or 6 of the next six, which, ya, doubt it, but so what? they aren't a legit SB contender by a mile, or more.

After the 49ers game, the Vikings absolutely SHOULD win the next six, those are awful teams.

But they're more likely to lose all six because with each game, this team has played softer, and softer and that's only going to get worse as the losses pile up.

I suppose it's possible they get pumped up solely for the GB rivalry next week and they carry that into the following games. But even if this team runs the table in the regular season, they aren't a legit SB contender, just like they weren't last year.

Right. I mean, they absolutely could win the next 6...but so what (other than its more fun to watch them win), they aren't legit contenders. I guess luck could happen....

They need to lose get a top 4 pick and draft a QB.  Winning and progressively moving down the draft order just extends their playoff pain.

no kidding? who knew?

Putting aside my sarcasm.....last year was fun. I'm good with more fun this year, but I don't feel it coming.
