Mr. 20/20 hindsight here: This is a game where I wish there had been a quick hook of the starter. IMHO it's better to lift a starter too soon than too late.

Might be time for Varland to go get right in AAA, he's been hit pretty hard the last couple of times out.

Might happen when Maeda is ready?

Hope I'm wrong, but I feel that this game is already all but decided.

What was that gme not too long ago where we scored, what was it, 7 or 8 runs in the 8th? It ain’t over til it’s over.

But …. Blargh

I think you are correct…. Rocco just doesn’t seem to make the right decisions in these circumstances

Honestly, I would rather see Rocco go before Gray.

Eh … damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t

After last year’s deadline debacle, the FO needs to redeem themselves. Gray won’t be back regardless

True enough.  But I can't see this lineup scoring at least 5 more runs in this game, especially given that we've only scored three runs total in the last 19 innings and have only scored in (I think) 4 different innings this entire series.

Just being honest with myself.

I am actually for keeping Rocco, but something seems amiss with this team.

I honestly have no feelings one way or the other on Rocco. I think I’ve made that clear. Managers are always the easy scapegoat. But I agree that there is something not clicking

Oh yeah, the likelihood is what it is. But I wouldn’t have expected it if that lineup either

Agree.  But I don't think it will play out that way.

We should just be deadline sellers at this point.  Fire everyone.  Hire a legitimate firm to find you a competent up and coming FO.  This thing needs a major shakeup.  It’s a dead end.  I’ve seen enough.

Not much to sell outside of gray unfortunately. Farmer, maybe?

There is talent on this team, but so many players are seriously underperforming (e.g., many are striking out at much higher percentage than in other years).   I don't get it -- and I don't see how you can blame that on a hitting coach -- there are guys on this team who know how to hit professionally.

Okay, stop the slide, folks

Serious question…. why is it wrong to voice opinions about Rocco’s decision making? It’s just a discussion about his in game decision making during a game thread…. seems absolutely logical. I am not trying to be difficult but…….?

We have the example of Toronto and Philly both firing their managers mid-season last year and it turning things around.

Yep. This is pretty much my stance. Most of it is on the players to execute.

Okay, those are two teams … two … does it always happen? I don’t know. Would be something to research. But I still think it’s a scapegoat move.
