Tremendous game. Man, Devin Williams is some kind of tough.

It was interesting to hear Trea Turner say this was the #1 highlight of his career and we already heard Randy Arozarena say that his catch was the highlight of his career. I'll just take the players' words of how they view the WBC. I have enjoyed the excellence of the games. Looking forward to the next three games. We should, hopefully,  get a chance to see the young phenom from Japan.

Man, watching Arraez, talk about your bittersweet.  Comparing Luis to the anemic bats we've seen so far this Spring, the bitter is overpowering.

Which one?  I've been living here in Japan for the past 24 years.  They've got a lot of young phenoms.  I assume you're taking about the 21-year-old who broke Oh's single season home run record set back in 1964.  "Murakami" is his name.  Except for the last game vs Italy, Murakami's bat has been pretty quiet.  We'll see what he does in Miami.  And, of course, I'm pulling for a Japan/US championship game.  If it comes to be, which it should, personally, it'll be interesting to see who I pull for.  I honestly don't know.  What I do know is that this Japanese team is the best, by far, of all the teams they've sent to the WBC!

That is actually correct because Japan has so many good players. I was thinking of Roki Sasaki though, but you are right on with your comment.

The flaw of WBC is the lack of the very best pitchers fully able to fill their roles. As I noted, Puerto Rico had De Leon, Dereck Rodriquez, Pagan, and Moran all on their staff--hardly the stuff of a prime postseason staff. The US staff is pedestrian and I would assume the other contenders for the championship are equally hamstrung. It is still great theater and great competition.

Japan's staff is pretty much fully loaded with their best guys. It's why they're usually the favorites.

Here in Japan, it is wall-to-wall coverage. As it was an off-night, they had a three-hour special on TV culminating in a fan-based best five plays from the Japanese players. At least here, it is as big as the World Cup in soccer.

It is civil, isn't it.  If I'm walking in the city (Nagoya) at night and I hear footsteps behind me, I don't even bat an eye.  I don't know if I ever can go home again.
