He's the closer. This is why I don't come to game threads anymore.

So a real-time comment about the game is too sensitive?

Yet here you are….Lopez is still a question mark…

They traded for a closer.  Why would they not use him accordingly?

Every player is a question mark. Isn't that why you watch games?

Let's just say that John McKay would be in favor of his execution recently (if you know the quote, you'll know the context)

Yes, he's the closer.  The Twins have 2 of them and I just feel like the one that has an overpowering fastball that mowed down the lineup in 10 pitches the previous inning should have been able to keep his groove going into the 9th.

But I thought rocco and company don’t really believe in the closer role? Not arguing with you, I’ve just been told a zillion times on this site that that closer role isn’t really important. I personally would ride the hot hand in that role (I believe that closers are important), and to me, duran has been steady Eddie all year

The other school of thought is that you can now use Duran again tomorrow.

That's actually something that frustrates me about Rocco - he takes a very non-analytical approach to closers, like last year opting to give Colome as many chances as possible to prove he sucked and then even in September keep using him there, only using Alcala once. Now he's fixated on using only Lopez here when he should go with the hot hand. I can guarantee you if Rogers were still here, Rocco would still be using him in the 9th even though he's pitching really poorly.

I don't really disagree with any of this, but I also don't disagree with bringing in Lopez to finish the game.  I think that's what he was brought in to do, so I find it odd that that is questioned to such a degree.  Especially when he got the job done.
