We’d be underdogs in a 3 game playoff series with either of those teams The pitching staff definitely needs some big time upgrades before the playoffs. But Toronto isn't exactly shutting teams out on a regular basis. They're 22nd in ERA. They've got some more impressive names than the Twins, but to this point their staff has been pretty terrible so I'm not too scared of them. Their biggest advantage at this point is they get to play against partial teams at home due to Canada vax laws. I wouldn't say the Twins would be a clear underdog against them. Boston is middle of the pack pitching so not sure they're clearly better either. Again, have some big names on the roster, but this far into the season we have to start trusting the performances a bit I think.
Game7-91 Verified Member Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Jeez, I leave for an hour and look what happens. Twins should be paying me to just hang out, share the good karma. Cie la vie. How often does it happen your team scores 9 in one game and loses the next one 2-1? Sox should have saved some of these runs because they will need them tomorrow and next.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 The games in April and May count just the same, but playing 4 games under over the last almost 50 games (22-26) is more than a blip. The high water mark was 27-16, so we’ve now had essentially a Jekyll and Hyde season. Some of those top 10 rankings will undoubtedly look worse unless the ship is righted

That’s like saying the reds and pirates are as good as the Yankees because they’ve split their games. You can only go off the games played. Not the ones to be played. What is meh. The Twins HAVE BEEN treading water for the past 50 games agreed. But since you KNOW the next time Twins face the East they will surely lose. My crystal ball is showing the Twins winning 16 of their next 20 just so all the bandwagoners and naysayers can jump back on the train

Last year, they started 14-28 and then went 59-61 the rest of the year, but hardly anyone remembers the latter.

I’d say they’re probably the 6th or 7th best team in the American League. And if Baltimore keeps it up, they might be 8th 1 NYY 2 HOU 3 TB 4 TOR 5 BOS 6/7 coin toss seattle minnesota The Kansas City-Omaha Royals would beg to differ on your Toronto ranking. ?

This is baseball, anyone can win a 3 game series. By this logic, the rangers are better than the twins, they just beat us 2/3. So did Arizona.

Did any analyst or anyone see them as a .500 club? The answer is a definitive no. But since they have been hot of late you're saying how good they are. I wasn't using any logic. Just stating what has happened so far. Where will you stand if the Twins go on a similar run. Are you going to tell everyone you knew it all along.

You need to have more than 1/2 of a reliable starting pitcher to win that many games in a row. And if you don’t have that you’d better have a bullpen. Pitching has won in baseball for 150 years and we don’t have any. Maybe they can luck into a 4 gamer here or there, but not with the staff as is with gray falling off the earth and Ryan being up and down
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Incredible... 12 base runners and 1 run. That takes skill to not score those runs.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Past the point of embarrassment now

If they're buyers before the deadline and it improves their bullpen, then I'd say they're capable.

It’s just awful…and I blame Rocco’s boring bench presence. TK and Gardy would have been barking… drive em in this guy is like like managing a kindergartner class… don’t hurt their feelings ?♂️
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 I’d like to see a rule banning position players from pitching until extras
