Is he still on the team? 49 minutes ago, Jerr said: I was just going to ask that question. He NEEDS to play more than he has! This is the plan. I can’t say that I like or agree with the plan, but until we hear otherwise, Buxton will continue to play about 2/3s of the time and be a half-time center fielder.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Author Posted June 5, 2022 I like the start of this game so far.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 What are you doing Jose...The Jays ace was struggling and was at 31 pitches. You CANNOT make that out there.
rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Aaaand another out on the basepaths.

Well he's off tomorrow and I hate the "plan".

stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 It was a great throw, but “don’t make the third out at third base”.

rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Miranda's blunder could end up more costly if the Blue Jays have a big inning here. Completely killed their momentum.

rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 I'm gonna guess this game will be at least tied after the 1st.

Hernandez is known for having an absolute cannon in RF. I give Miranda props against the majority of the league I feel he makes that, but I agree you can't make that out there. 2 minutes ago, Jerr said: Well he's off tomorrow and I hate the "plan". I don't think anyone in the Twins fandom loves, or even likes what they're doing. I justify it as picking the lesser of two evils and protecting their investment. Maybe with two days off we get him for 3/4 instead of 2/3. If Buxton breaks 100 games this year I'll be content knowing he played as much as his body let him without going on the IL.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Author Posted June 5, 2022 Suboptimal start for Smeltzer.

Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 This is going to be a real test for Smeltzer... especially if the Twins defense has problems with fly balls like the Jays are.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Oh wow, those “O Canada” uniforms are pretty awesome.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Chicago is up 4-0 in the first in Tampa Bay. Cleveland is up 3-0 in the 2nd inning. Likely going to need to win here to keep pace.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 The Jays are a terrible matchup for Smeltzer. The only worse matchup possible is the Yankees. They absolutely crush LHP, and Smeltzer doesn't even have good stuff against bad teams. If he can get through 3 or 4 innings with <= runs allowed per inning pitched, it's a good start.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 If I had the pitching profile of Devin Smeltzer, I’d also be scared to throw the Blue Jays strikes.

This team is just downright potent when it comes to hitting LHP. If he keeps getting double plays like that though we'll be just fine!
rwilfong86 Verified Member Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 Gah, Gordon's triple makes Mirandas blunder even worse.
