Rarely is not never! But I would have told you it never snows in April. :)

It never had.....not once had there been measurable snow in Portland (since 1940, when they started keeping records). Also, how had we not kept records before that?

So, no games in MN, Chicago (2 teams), NY (2 teams), Boston, Pittsburgh, Philly, Detroit? How about Colorado or Cleveland? That is 11 teams.....If you play baseball in April or October, you will have weather issues.

Denver is actually very sunny.  Nearly 70% days are sunny.  So, we could lower that to 10 teams.

But I agree with your point.  Weather is going to happen, especially in April.  I mean, I have a Twins stocking cap.  I need to wear that to games on occasion.  Seems like a silly thing to do in July.

That's what I thought. I live up in the Fargo area. For Opening Day was it just about the temps or was it raining then, too?

Yes.

Oh god. I just looked at my post count. I really need to stop coming here.

But we’re glad you can’t seem to help yourself!

I think that 1940 is when the official weather station moved to the current airport location. They restarted all the official records to keep them comparable. (Probably more for temperature than precipitation, though.)

I think those crazy kids are going to try to play in the rain………forcing the issue on days like this is what I don’t like about an open-air park.

Think of it as a referendum on the pace of play issue.

Minnesota is a regional team in a lot of ways.  We draw fans from the surrounding states.  I would prefer ideal weather, but i would be more frustrated if they didn't try and have games under less than ideal conditions.  Nothing worse than loading up the family and driving a few hundred miles, only to see a game postponed due to less than ideal conditions.

I always thought of this when Gardy would rest Mauer on Sundays.  Fans who had to come on weekends were denied to see him play live.  I would have preferred to see him have another day, during the week, off.

Well, the Twins (and Saints) took a chance on the weather. It ws a beautiful night, in many ways, for a game until 9:30ish. The rain parkas came out, but Target Field is not a bad place if it isn't unbearably cold.

But they maybe should've stopped play when they flashed the severe thunderstorm coming, move to the concourse message and covered the field...finishing the tied (at that point) game the next day.
