Wow, current pitchers on the IL. This is ugly.

Jorge Alcala
Edwar Colina
Randy Dobnak
Luke Farrell
Derek Law
Kenta Maeda
Michael Pineda
Taylor Rogers
Devin Smeltzer
Cody Stashak
Lewis Thorpe

Yikes. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to drop at least a couple of those names without worrying about it much.

There's 4-6 guys on there who could legitimately be on a division winning team in some capacity.  That's hard to replace.

Dick just said he doesn;t like the term Immaculate Inning, because it reminds him of the Vikings-Cowboys game where Drew Pearson pushed off, and scored the winning touchdown on the Immaculate Reception.

Who wants to tell him that's not the play Immaculate Reception refers to?

I think Rocco need to sent Rooker to St. Paul.

I think it'd be better to let him finish the season here, and if it continues to go poorly, DFA him and be done with it. They're clearly not trying to win, so no point in sending a rookie back to AAA after he spent most the season there.

I don’t see any elite prospects in AA and AAA.   Maybe Ryan would be a good one.   Who knows?

Balazovic, Duran, Winder, Ryan, and SWR could all be reasonably argued to be elite (or at least have elite potential).  Unfortunately, 2 are hurt, 1 is struggling, and another seems to not be in game shape in the middle of the season, somehow.

If we're expanding beyond just pitching prospects, Martin and Miranda could also qualify as elite.

Yeah, Rooker had a 139 wRC+ in AAA in 2019, and 141 this year.  He'll be 27 before Spring Training next year.  If he's not ready to be a usable regular at the MLB level at this point, his roster spot needs to go to someone else.

Yep. This is his audition with the Twins. If he can't hit, they have no space for him on the 2022 roster.

Hell, I'd argue they have no space for him on the 2022 roster even if he hits.

I agree but I don't think I'd hesitate to drop Law and Thorpe (I'm convinced he's cooked) and would strongly consider dropping Smeltzer, though it's always dicey to drop multiple lefties at the same time.

Well, great to see the bullpen coming through again. Barraclough's era just went up to 13.50. Think he'll get it up to 15 in this appearance?

But if they pull him now we'll never know if someone can set a new record for exit velocity.

I'd be perfectly fine ditching Law, Thorpe, Farrell, and Smeltzer at this point.  I also wouldn't be too upset about letting Colina go either (he's still only 24 sure, but has only struck out more than 9/9 once in his life, and seems to have some serious health issues.  He's the last of the group I'd let go, and only if I was certain I was improving his spot--that is, I don't release him to sign a Matt Wisler type, but rather to sign a Taylor Rogers type).

The 2022 Twins don't have room on the roster for a guy who's hitting?  I don't think our roster is that deep...

Who's hitting? Not Rooker. He line is .195/.277/.398 (.676) so far this year. OPS+ of 88. Not good but only 137 at bats. If you add in his good streak when he came up in 2020, his career is .211/.277/.398 (.714). OPS+ of 98. 158 plate appearances, 142 at bats. Not good for a guy who adds little or no defensive value.  That's why there probably isn't room for him on the 2022 roster.

Eh, I'd rather protect Colina. I'd be willing to bet he'd be striking out more if he was pitching in the pen, but he spent his whole MILB career as a starter. Too much upside there to DFA, he'd get claimed.

I think you missed the "if" Brock included.

I mean they don't have room for several non-position players, of which they already have too many.

So someone would probably have to go.

I agree with most of this but also wouldn't cry if they held on to Farrell. He's definitely in the "keep him or don't keep him, whatever" area to me.

I've become a fan of Garza and his hair as well.

Barracough needs to go.    His ERA is about 10.00.  He is not that good!

This year the Twins pitching is a mess.   Wondering how FO will fix the pitching for next season.
