Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 What an exciting finish to last night's game! And this from the previous day ... leading up to the Polanco walk-off sac fly: We've been experiencing a lot of that lately ... and while too little, too late for the end result to the season as we were hoping, it's still fun anyway ... even the 3.5-4 hrs of it! The Twins just seem to be clicking lately and it's a good ride. I'm hoping for a good night from Ober, was hoping to see Gordon in the lineup, but onward we must go. May the clicking continue! And we still don't know who tomorrow's pitcher will be ... Ryan? Thorpe? All will be revealed in time! See? There's still some excitement to be had. 'Nuff said ... the lineups: GUARDIANS 1. Myles Straw (R ) CF 2. Amed Rosario (R ) DH 3. Jose Ramirez (S) 3B 4. Wilson Ramos (R ) C 5. Bradley Zimmer (L) RF 6. Yu Chang (R ) 1B 7. Daniel Johnson (L) LF 8. Ernie Clement (R ) 2B 9. Andres Gimenez (L) SS Eli Morgan (R ) P TWINS 1. Max Kepler (L) RF 2. Brent Rooker (R ) LF 3. Jorge Polanco (S) 2B 4. Josh Donaldson (R ) DH 5. Luis Arraez (L) 3B 6. Mitch Garver (R ) C 7. Miguel Sano (R ) 1B 8. Rob Refsnyder (R ) CF 9. Andrelton Simmons (R) SS Bailey Ober (R ) P Now go get 'em! Play ball!

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 18, 2021 Author Posted August 18, 2021 So, who is that more tiring for ... the pitcher or the batter? ('Yes' is not an acceptable answer)

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Donaldson plunks it to shallow outfield. Keep it going!
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Oakland pitcher just got a line drive in the face against the white Sox. Ugly.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Do they have us where they want us? Bases loaded and no outs? Let's retire that meme...
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Sano seems so easy to strikeout
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Bases loaded, nobody out. I tune in. Two pitches... Son of a...
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 I’ve never seen a team so utterly incompetent in bases loaded, 0 out situations. Embarrassing

Irishman Verified Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Base loaded. Still can’t score at least run. Bummer!
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Yet another bases loaded no outs situation goes up in flames... that's 2 hits in 18 PAs with the bases loaded for Sano. And 2 GDPs in 2 days for Ref with the bases juiced. Ugh.

h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 I hate check swings. Commit and swing, or don't. But the check swing is always worthless.
Game7-91 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Bailey Ober has a future in MLB, and not just owing to his very baseball-esque name.....expand the zone B.O.!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 18, 2021 Author Posted August 18, 2021 Geez ... Simmons ... don't know what to say ... getting the base at 2nd was something, but that throw was something else
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Jim Kaat or Greg Maddux would have fielded that ball. Pitchers don't put themselves in position to help the team at the end of their delivery anymore.
LewFordLives Verified Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 I thought Simmons was supposed to be a defense first SS. He has not impressed me with his glove.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 I don't mind the Simmons throw. Sano, or whoever is playing first, needs to come off the bag if he needs to rather than let it go. Limit the damage always. Sano first job is to catch a catchable ball, and I believe that was. Simmons is surely declining, and I have not been happy with him, but that was not about his "glove" but his throw. And Sano could have prevented the outcome. I focus on the amazing out at second on that one.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Simmons! Just when ya think he completely messes up... The foot is quicker than the eye.
