RpR Verified Member Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 The pitcher is throwing slow balls and Twins just stand there and watch them go by.

Agreed that our catchers play a big role in not blocking the pitches, it's not all on the pitchers. With a runner on third should be a bigger effort to block the pitch.

He moved late for the ball, probably not on the same page with Gant for signs with runners on base. And he set up more middle-in and the pitch was outside.

Instead of pulling his glove up against his chest, which was useless, in the same time he could have simply back handed it easily; they showed the replay and that was obvious. WHY, did they pull Gant? In several games , commentors have said the way the Twins catchers set-up means they have problems stopping wild pitches.
Irishman Verified Member Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Last night St Paul Saints Pitcher Drew Strotman allowed 4 runs and 2 homeruns. Falvey, Good job!

It was a poor throw and Arraez's error all the way. BUT, that's a play that a GOOD firstbaseman (Mauer, Morneau, Cron) makes most of the time, and saves his teammate and error.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Hopefully we will start to see our AAAA filler currently in the bullpen get removed in favor of some prospects...
Irishman Verified Member Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Rocko, please take Burrows out NOW! Don’t leave him there too LONG!
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 Strawberry banana milk shake, made with good ice cream.
wavedog Verified Member Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 A tip of the cap to an old baseball marketing slogan which would be highly inappropriate in these Covid times: Twins Fever - Catch it! The only thing I am catching is a nap. Would be nice to see some relievers with ability promoted. Donaldson missed the weekend series - how about putting him on the IL and getting Miranda up here. It's not like we need Donaldson back for the pennant chase - let him fully rest up.

Irishman Verified Member Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 6 St. Louis pitchers are on Injured lists. This team is .500. Amazing! Why can’t Twins do it? That baffled me! Looks like Twins choked today. Without pitching, we can’t win!
