RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 I'm not completely sold on Jeffers, but I will give him the benefit of a doubt, when it comes to his hitting. There are several catchers who struggled offensively early in their careers. Some of them became decent hitters. I think the young man is really trying to establish himself as a catcher, first. Learning his staff, opposing hitters and runners are more of a priority for him, right now. In fact, with this team, he may be mandated to concentrate on his defensive, and any offense he generates is great, for now. A Twins lineup of lesser ability would require a larger offensive contribution.
mnfireman Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 How do the wheels fall off that quickly. Berrios was cruising, with a pitch count to get into the 7th or 8th, now his day is probably over after 5.
AceWrigley Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Stoopid pitch selection to Baddoo, curve for a single. Should have been that screwball fastball a little more down/away.
RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Can anyone say "immediate implosion"?
Matthew Lenz Twins Daily Editor Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Berríos just falling apart. This is exactly why I don’t want to pay him more than $15MM AAV. He’s not at the same level as the guys earning closer to $20MM AAV.

RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Boy, I bet the garbage can in the Detroit dugout took some abuse during that half inning.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 4-0? That will teach me not to fall asleep in the middle of a game...
RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Berrios must be on some type of 'timed released' medication.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2021 Author Posted July 11, 2021 So frustrating ... this is why I'm conflicted about extending him ... just not sure he's worth what he might get on the open market and what we would have to over pay to keep him
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 For some reason we can get some pitchers so close to their 90+ percentile but don’t have that last tweak to unlock it. Berrios has shown plenty of flashes that he could be the best pitcher in baseball. Even with these struggles he’s still #28 ranked fWAR for qualified MLB pitchers.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2021 Author Posted July 11, 2021 Okay ... let's have 3 more just like that
RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 The Luftwaffe Air Raid!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think there is any more to unlock. I think this is just who he is
AceWrigley Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 5 solo homers for the win, that would be the Twin's way, eh?
RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 OUCH!!!!!!!!!!! He's gone for 10 days.
RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 And the annual 'Mr Toughness Award" goes to.........................

RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Bremer's favorite phrases of 2021. 1. Soft tissue 2. center cut 3 I'm certainly not the expert 4

RickOShea Verified Member Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 Berrios still shaking his head as he walks off the mound. So much for being a professional and moving forward.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 The Tigers' bullpen may yet allow the Twins to make a comeback.
