Back when they had picture day, and you went on the field to take pictures of players, I asked Lyman if he was going to stay with the Twins. He said he hoped to. Then he was gone. He was very nice to everyone that day.... Sucks. Pretty sure I was an early teen?

I forget why Danny Ford nickname was "Disco".  It didn't have anything to do with the ill-advised Comiskey Park promotion, did it?

I think we need a 98-cent ticket promotion like this one - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco_Demolition_Night.  What should we blow up as a sacrifice to the baseball gods?  They're obviously upset with Twins fans for something.

I think because Ford was talented, but his head wasn’t always in the game.  He famously let the runner behind him pass him in touching the plate, and the run was lost.  And Mauch was the manager, so you can imagine how that went over.

They get a pitch like that and they hammer it into the 2nd deck.

We hit that pitch and pop out to the 2nd baseman.

I say put Happ and Shoemaker with a stick of dynamite connecting the two at their rfears.  Then light the fuse, and enjoy.

How can you challenge that?  Looked pretty clear.  Morneau says the challenge is to let the hitter reset, emotionally.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Mauch manage the '64 Phillies to the biggest collapse south of the '78 Red Sox (Yankees were 14 GB and won the Bucky Dent game)?

Since misery loves company, here's a fun read...

Complete with pictures of a young Gene Mauch!

Yeah, but I really liked Mauch as a manager.  I thought he brought some outside professionalism and class to the organization. He did well with Carew, too, who stopped being a “moody” player and really reached his potential.

What a bust the Donaldson signing has been. Figures, twins finally go out and spend money on a proven player and he’s been a big failure

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me why Byron Buxton is healthy enough to play in St Paul but not Minneapolis.

Makes no sense.

Just said the same to Mrs. Rigby.

It must be nice for your team to have runners on with a narrow lead, see a dude jogging in from the bullpen, and think "Oh, good, the reliever will take care of this".

Happ’s ERA today “only 7.20”.

That's less than a run per inning!  I smell an extension... that, or Twins fans drowning their sorrow in bratwurst.

I’ll say this now to get him going…….Nelson Cruz is getting old in front of my eyes.

He just discovered that all you have to do to get on base is reach back and hit the catcher's mitt. That might buy him a few more years.

How many Twins fans are shaking their heads this year.  Dishing out a couple of hundred dollars or more only to expose their family to this brutal entertainment.
