sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Let's all load up our baskets and blankets, and enjoy a nice socially distanced picnic while we watch the game: 2 fine teams competing for the shere joy of it. No tricks, no weapons. Just skill against skill. Sportsmanlike. Hmmm, i wonder how old is the value of sportsmanship? Ship... does it originate in maritime practices? Or perhaps it was originally sheep... coming from those good old shepharding days, ever since David bested Goliath... Well, we need only to watch, and find out which is the sheep, and which the goat... Twins0. Jose Berrios (R ) P1. Max Kepler ( L) RF2. Josh Donaldson (R ) 3B3. Nelson Cruz (R ) DH4. DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Marwin out due to non covid illness. Adrianza playing 2B and hitting 9th I believe. Blankenhorn reportedly called up and Smeltzer back down. I wouldn't start Blankenhorn either. Just let him get over jet lag and maybe play tomorrow. Interesting lineup. Don't hate it. But I think I would have dropped Kepler down behind Cruz and maybe put Wade #1. He's been taking some awfully good AB as of late. Twins are the better team overall, especially defensively and pitching. But Chicago is home has a potent offense, and I'd be OK taking 2 of 4, of course, I'm hoping for better than that.
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 I sure do dislike the white sox.

I grabbed it early in the afternoon and didn't double check before writing the rest and posting it.
twins_89 Verified Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 It figures that Marwin is out sick after finally starting to hit again after what has been a truly miserable season. With all the guys missing games Kirilloff would be able to play pretty much every day, so I finding it hard to justify not promoting him. I would be very happy to never see a lineup with Adrianza, Cave, and Wade again.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Cease looks tough tonight.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 there goes the no-hitter.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Edit: Blankenhorn may be traveling with the team on the taxi squad right now. I may have jumped the gun saying a move had already taken place. My hunch is he may yet be activated this series.

70charger Verified Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 They didn't get much going in the first, but they forced Cease to throw 20 pitches to Berrios's 11. That's a good sign at least.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 Knotted at naught-naught after 1.

It's listed on the transaction page on twinsbaseball.com so maybe it has been done, but not officially announced.

Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 OK boys, time to get rispy.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Wade is beginning to look more and more like he is confident and ready. Didn't look that way to me last season.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Whatever bug Marwin has must be affecting the Twins broadcast. Sounds like they are talking in to a tin can phone. Must be a he'll of a long cord stretching to Chicago.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Be a tought out, Byron.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Good time for Cave to bust through
70charger Verified Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Still running up the pitch count. Would prefer more hits though...
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Cave about 3 seconds late on that heater.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Sorry, thought those last 2 pitches and the framing was good

twinbythebay Verified Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Pretty slick recovery there by Berrios to make the play on Robert.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Pretty slick recovery there by Berrios to make the play on Robert.Indeed. He's a good fielder.
wabene Verified Member Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Grind em downI was listening to a podcast today and Levine was talking about just that. He said the Twins were built specifically with depth to grind teams down. Depth of lineup depth of roster
