Mill1634 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Thielbar...interesting given the fact that the Sox crush lefties, but not a ton of options here
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Big Mike off the hook (deserved).
Crackedfungo Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Marwin's nearly down to .600 OPS. He's really hurt the lineup over the past few weeks. BBref has him as a sub replacement level player (-0.1 WAR).Why to they feel the need to play MG everyday (as a sub for someone)? He is better off the bench, and really isn't an everyday player. Couple that with the Adrianza and Cave everyday opptys, and the Vargas and Avila occasional starts and our lineup is weakened substantially.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Big Mike off the hook (deserved).Hurrah! Hope we don't let the Sox off Thielbar's hook either.
Crackedfungo Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 That's another way the Donaldson injury has been a killer. Yet, they were still playing Marwin WAY too much last year too. Its almost like that was placed in his contract - you will play almost everyday at multiple different positions. He has NEVER been that good. SMH. We really need to flush the turds down and quit acting like they add value to preserve service time for our young prospects.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 I think that is a catch? Or pretty close
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Wow! Kudos to Cave on that near miss catch...
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 I think that is a catch? Or pretty closeJust glad he was in foul territory and that wasn't an NBA style acrobatic save to keep the ball in play.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Props to the front office and to Thielbar....he has been a big boost from the left side out of the pen
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Was that a stolen base or a wild pitch? Probably the latter, but gosh... Could be argued either way.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Was that a stolen base or a wild pitch? Probably the latter, but gosh... Could be argued either way. They’ll only give the SB if he was running on the pitch. But he did get a great jump when it was in the dirt.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 It was tied in the middle of the seventh last night too, but this game has been SO much less painful to watch.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Ouch. If he has to come out, Kepler is the only guy left.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Good gracious, not one guy could hit it on the ground
jud6312 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Ouch. If he has to come out, Kepler is the only guy left. Does that mean Rosario at 2B? Or Kepler to first and Sano to third.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Finally some clutch hitting.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Now THIS feels like a team, all of a sudden.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 The Twins really are a different team when Buxton's playing. What an impact!
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Byron is definitely remembering Evan Marshall.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 They’ll only give the SB if he was running on the pitch. But he did get a great jump when it was in the dirt. True. Though it did sound like he read it was in the dirt as it was thrown and was off at that point, and honestly, he probably woulda been out if he hadn't. So he should get friendly credit for good base running, even if the stat doesn't reflect a stolen base.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Would Sano have scored a bigger run?You just can't judge a trade right away, can you.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Now THIS feels like a team, all of a sudden.I like the use of the pinch hitters! (though hard not to like things that work, as the reverse is also true... or do i mean converse?) And i hope this jump starts 'em.
MVP Nick Punto Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Hey, I turn on the game, and the Twins take the lead. How 'bout dat? Anyway, ESPN ranks us #6 in their power rankings: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29767518/mlb-power-rankings-where-all-30-teams-stand-coming-trade-deadlineI know power rankings don't matter, but do we deserve that spot after dropping 2 full series' worth of games?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 You just can't judge a trade right away, can you. Pretty sure you can always judge them. You're just a lot more likely to be wrong.
Crackedfungo Verified Member Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Why Romo? I know we are depleted, but I have no faith in this guy with all the heavy hitters on Sox.
