MNT1996 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 I have to say that I don't understand all the whining. We didn't get a 24-year-old Sandy Koufax for Joe Schlabotnik. Let's get realistic about what we can get for what we are willing to give. If we give up Lewis or Kirilloff, then I understand the grief. We got a veteran relief pitcher who has been very effective this season for someone who is probably a marginal major leaguer at a highly replaceable position. And we got a pitching prospect who doesn't have to be protected on the 40-man roster for a couple more years. What's not to like? I guess the deciding factor in determining if it's a good trade or not will be if he's reliable for us. Maybe I got ahead of myself for not liking the trade, but just looking at it at face value and thinking about past deadline trades the Twins have made by acquiring aging relief pitchers I'm just not a big fan.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 We have been a less than .500 team since June. So I guess not terrible, just not better than average. And this is the easy part of the schedule, the White Sox. So very disappointing to see them lose focus and seem dull today. They look pretty bad this afternoon. Errors. Leaving the bases loaded. That is what is not a good look.Today won't mean much to me if we can win tomorrow - taking 3/4 in any 4 game series is great.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Teams are allowed to make more than one trade.True. However I just don’t see Bummer’s name mentioned at all. With all the Sox pitchers going under the knife I think the Sox are still a couple years away, and could part with him.

Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 This is the worst offensive game of the year for the Twins. I wonder if they took the White Sox for granted a bit after 2 lobsided games.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 The pitching powerhouse Ivan Nova tames the Twins
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Holy smokes. They ended that inning so fast I couldn't even write my post fast enough to see the end of the game.

I'd be shocked if they move anyone significant.
HawksNest Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Tough game, especially against Ivan Nova who had given up 147 hits (wow!) in 119 innings pitched coming into his outing tonight. Offense was completely non-existent against a TERRIBLE pitcher. Hope to rebound and get it going tomorrow
Kato87 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 wow! we were pounding the baseball out the ballpark all week, then get 3-hitted by the lowly sox
Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Curse of the Yankees yet again! If my memory serves me right, Super Nova came up with the Yankees!
Kato87 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 this season reminds of alot like 2001... TK's last yr. the faded in 2nd half of the last season, especially the bullpen
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2019 Author Posted July 28, 2019 Even if they're wrong, I think the Sox consider themselves contenders next year.I'd be shocked if they move anyone significant. The Sox might but their fans don't. They think there are some good young pieces there, but they don't think they will be contenders next year. At least not the fans I talk to about baseball every day.
Utah Twins Fan Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 I know this loss hurts but in the overall picture Twins are sitting 22 games over .500 if my South Dakota math is correct. Who would have predicted that at this point in the season this past winter! Hopefully they pick up a few more arms for the pen and continue to beat up on sub .500 teams in Aug when Cleveland plays the tougher schedule. I know it’s down to a game but I hope and predict by 1 sept it maybe 6 or 7 game lead. Just get more bullpen help ASAP!!

There are 50-some games left, whichever team is better in those games will win the division. Of those 50-some games, the Twins play Cleveland 10 times, including 7 in Minneapolis. I think in the end those games will determine who wins the Central.
Utah Twins Fan Verified Member Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 You said it the head to head will go along ways and having those late season games against the tribe at home will make a huge difference!
