I have to say that I don't understand all the whining.

We didn't get a 24-year-old Sandy Koufax for Joe Schlabotnik. Let's get realistic about what we can get for what we are willing to give. If we give up Lewis or Kirilloff, then I understand the grief.

We got a veteran relief pitcher who has been very effective this season for someone who is probably a marginal major leaguer at a highly replaceable position. And we got a pitching prospect who doesn't have to be protected on the 40-man roster for a couple more years. What's not to like?

I guess the deciding factor in determining if it's a good trade or not will be if he's reliable for us. Maybe I got ahead of myself for not liking the trade, but just looking at it at face value and thinking about past deadline trades the Twins have made by acquiring aging relief pitchers I'm just not a big fan.

We have been a less than .500 team since June. So I guess not terrible, just not better than average. And this is the easy part of the schedule, the White Sox. So very disappointing to see them lose focus and seem dull today. They look pretty bad this afternoon. Errors. Leaving the bases loaded. That is what is not a good look.

Today won't mean much to me if we can win tomorrow - taking 3/4 in any 4 game series is great.

Teams are allowed to make more than one trade.

True. However I just don’t see Bummer’s name mentioned at all. With all the Sox pitchers going under the knife I think the Sox are still a couple years away, and could part with him.

Yes! If we lose this division by taking 3 out of 4 in every series then so be it.

This is the worst offensive game of the year for the Twins. I wonder if they took the White Sox for granted a bit after 2 lobsided games.

Even if they're wrong, I think the Sox consider themselves contenders next year.

I'd be shocked if they move anyone significant.

Tough game, especially against Ivan Nova who had given up 147 hits (wow!) in 119 innings pitched coming into his outing tonight.

Offense was completely non-existent against a TERRIBLE pitcher.

Hope to rebound and get it going tomorrow

The Sox might but their fans don't. They think there are some good young pieces there, but they don't think they will be contenders next year. At least not the fans I talk to about baseball every day.

I know this loss hurts but in the overall picture Twins are sitting 22 games over .500 if my South Dakota math is correct. Who would have predicted that at this point in the season this past winter! Hopefully they pick up a few more arms for the pen and continue to beat up on sub .500 teams in Aug when Cleveland plays the tougher schedule. I know it’s down to a game but I hope and predict by 1 sept it maybe 6 or 7 game lead. Just get more bullpen help ASAP!!

Cleveland is playing better than the Twins right now (duh), but the Twins were much better than Cleveland early in the year. There are 50-some games left, whichever team is better in those games will win the division. Of those 50-some games, the Twins play Cleveland 10 times, including 7 in Minneapolis. I think in the end those games will determine who wins the Central.
