Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 That was a nice play by their CF. It was no doubt... But... Kepler was more shocking. What was he doing? Go to the bag and tag. If he doesn't think he can make it... Fine... stay on the bag then and it accomplishes the same thing. By not going back to bag... he eliminated the possibility of tagging and scoring. (which I think he would have). What was Kepler thinking and was the third base coach watching, telling him to get back, yelling, screaming or simply watching the play assuming Kepler would go back to the bag like a well coached high school player would do. Cost us a run... that may come in handy later.

The CF was ready to throw almost as soon as he caught it, and it was not deep.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 I wondered about the lack of tagging too. Hard somerimes to read betweenlines on gameday.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Our starting pitchers really like to give up 3 runs in an inning, and then not give up any runs in the rest of the innings they pitched. Gibson and Pineda have this down to an art at this point.

Kepler isn't slow and Laureano had to go down to the ground to make the catch... pop up and make the throw which I assume would have given Kepler enough space to cross the plate. We will never know because Kepler didn't go back to the bag.

glunn Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Nice breaking pitches by Gibson to end the inning. Now we need runs.
David HK Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Man, Gibby being Gibby (sometimes Gibby being Nibby), but I gotta give him credit for toughing it out through 6, and keeping the team in the game. A thousand pitches, but he's earned this quality start.
Blake Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 give Gibson credit, he made it through 6. And, he did pitch an inning of relief this year. Wasn't a stellar performance but Gibson found a way to get the job done.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Arraez looks so legit. Hope it stays that way. Adrianza smoked that one.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Might actually end up getting jobbed a bit here according to the a’s announcers. Might be first and second and not second and third
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Dude gotta come through here. Big break.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Bunting for a hit on a squeeze play? Uff Da
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 That sucked. Buxton's bunting continues to disappoint.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 What century is this?? Suicide squeeze? Swing the bat.
David HK Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 For God's sake, why does a guy with Usain Bolt-level speed not know how to get a damn bunt down? Just pathetic.
