Bunting for a hit on a squeeze play?

Uff Da

It could have been good if Buxton had a better approach to bunting.

And that's why you don't see the suicide squeeze nowadays!

Dear goodness, they're going to find a way to lose this, aren't they...

Nice bunt, Buxton.

On that play, you have to get your face right over the bat. If the ball doesn't hit the bat, it should hit your nose. Buxton should have gone to a knee to get down to the ball, not wave at it from a fashionable distance.

Nice bunt, Buxton. Very fashionable whiff.

A's infielder made two errors on one play. Buxton just made two errors in one at bat.

Just one of those stretches for the Twins. Nothings working out. Every team has stretches like that. Can't get too upset. Not in panic mode yet. If the Indians get within 3 or 4 games, then we can start to think about hitting the panic button. Until then, no need to freak out.

Everytime watching His ABs, I always wonder why he belongs to this level.

I hate being critical... Sometime the ball bounces the wrong way.

Those were two (not professional) plays that cost us potentially two runs.

Kepler not going to third to set up for a possible tag is ignoring fundamentals that should be instinctive at the professional level.

And not squaring to ensure you get the bunt down on a squeeze play is more of the same.

The pitch was a ball and outside but he wasn't squared.

They are young... but... younger than they are (like high school level) should know to both tag and square respectively in those situations.

I mean, it’ll be 6 if they don’t recover here. It was 11.5 on June 2. And a head to head series looms next week.

Buck needs to be DFA today. He sucks.

Right. If you're watching on TV and freaking out you're watching the wrong sport.

I swear to God, you could have put a decent HS player up there, and he would have at least gotten contact on that pathetic bunt attempt.

He has a 115 OPS+ (that means he's hit 15% better than league average), and is on pace for a 5 WAR season, which would be borderline MVP if a guy named Trout didn't exist.

Did he run over your dog or something?

Most of my little league players learned how to do both better than what we just saw. On the other hand, the level of competition was somewhat lower.

The Astros lost 7 games in a row and I don't see Astro fans melting down...

I'm not really worried about the Indians. If they catch us, that's because we're not a very good team, and I'm not interested in watching this team limp into the playoffs barely past the Indians... I want to see them dominate. Plus, are the Indians going to make any moves at the deadline?

Winning a World Series 2 seasons ago can prevent most melt downs. Twins are at 17 years since any series win. The pessimism is legit

I can be somewhat forgiving for the professional not being a good bunter because they were always the stars on their team prior to the majors.

You have to be one of the better hitters just to reach the big leagues so coaches would never ask them to bunt prior to the big leagues so they never really learn the art.

But... By simply being around the game... they should know by now that if the coach calls for a squeeze. You have to get a bat on the ball wherever it is thrown and to do so... give yourself up, square and touch that ball with the bat.

I'd imagine that Astro Fans are like Twins Fans. You can find plenty of Astros fans melted down to a puddle over on Astrosdaily.  :)
