Really have to wonder about Mattingly there.  He's managed in the NL for so many years and it should be automatic with 2 outs and the pitcher on deck to just walk the 8th-place guy and take your chances.  Why pitch to a dangerous hitter when you have a layup on deck?  And if the opposition dares to pinch hit this early in the game, then you're in their bullpen and things tilt a bit in your favor.

That's why you're the Marlins.

Buxton has been solid all year!

He really has. It's been great watching him bat this year! Gotta love the hard work he put in to get to this point.

Great to see that hard work paying off too.

My gosh, Big Mike --

Those 4 innings were like a death-march.

Maybe have him take a seat now, Rocco.

I think I'd still pitch him next inning.

Is Dyson there yet?

He does give off a young Brad Pitt vibe.

Not quite what I was referring to, but to each their own

I thought I read somewhere that he was going to catch up with the team in Miami. He does have 72 hrs, so maybe he'll join us in MN vs KC.

Not a hit, but Eddie puts the ball in play and gets the runner in from 3rd, something the Twins lacked doing for about a month, great to see!

This is the first time in Buxton's short career that I've actually felt some confidence that he's not going to strike out on the curve ball away. If this season isn't his "break out" then I feel like next year will be. If he can build on this success he'll be the MVP candidate we were expecting when he was drafted.

I'd really push to sign him to an extension this winter, even if the price is very high ... and take out concussion insurance.

Okay ... gonna make my way through the LaLaPalooza throng and head to work ... cheers, all and go Twins!
