Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Sorry, Dems. Your best bet is, again, Bernie Sanders. I don't like his age. But he is a clear winner who is also a good person. Warren is next, though I fear her campaigning skills. Joe I LOVE WAR AND CORPORATIONS Biden is a non-starter for me. Actually worse than Clinton was.

Actually worse than Clinton was.I'm firmly in the Warren camp until Sanders can actually articulate some policy beyond hopeful generalities. I'm not really worried about Warren on the campaign, from what I've seen, she's done fairly well, and has actually been climbing in the polls over the past month or so. (But at this time, we all see what we want to see).

Of course I would vote for whomever the nom is but I’m hoping it’s neither Biden nor Sanders.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Warren remains the obvious choice for me though if the party wants to go centrist, I'll take Klobuchar 11 times out of 10 over Biden, thanks.

Presented that option, I'd certainly need to know my choices in alternative party candidates. I couldn't give either my vote right now for sure.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 I'm glad to see Warren finally gaining some ground, myself. She is a hard worker, no question about it.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Elizabeth Warren? Wow.I shouldn't even ask this, but... why not Warren?
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 I shouldn't even ask this, but... why not Warren?I'm going to go out on a limb and answer for Ewen and simply say she's another crappy candidate offered by the left that won't actually fix the problems.... By all means, prove me wrong. I'd like to find a mainstream candidate I could get behind. And I'm going to diverge from those that identify as right wing and say they aren't any better either.

She has run quite a different model of a campaign, however. I'm not confident it was a wise choice to do so, nevertheless, I give her credit for trying it. (That being a very open and detailed, policy driven strategy)

Pretty much this. Let's just say I don't see where making the Hyde Amendment, abolishing the electoral college, reparations and magically erasing college debt is realistic or helpful. There is the short version of my answer, but what you said is more succinct and probably even more effective. Then again, I am not the one touting her. I would like to hear WHY she is serious candidate for president. I asked and had the question thrown back at me for some reason.

She actually has a ton of plans that practically address a variety of issues, have you done your homework or are you just throwing anti-left opinions against the wall?
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 She actually has a ton of plans that practically address a variety of issues, have you done your homework or are you just throwing anti-left opinions against the wall?Yeah... if you combine the plans released by every other candidate, Warren's numerous plans probably outnumber them all combined.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 I asked and had the question thrown back at me for some reason. You never even asked the question so stop playing the victim. Actually, I was the one who asked "why not Warren?" I just scrolled back two full pages and the entirety of your thought-provoking Warren commentary before the quoted post has been:"Elizabeth Warren?Wow."
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 I am torn between Warren and Harris. Would very much like to see Joe Kennedy as the VP candidate. I am not torn between throwing up my hands saying things will never change and supporting what I see as (potential) genuine improvement in the condition of the land of my birth.

I couldn't give either my vote right now for sure. Do you mean either Warren/Klobuchar or Klobuchar/Biden? I really don't know how anyone who isn't a diehard Republican can't see anyone with "Democrat" in front of their name as anything other than a shift in the right direction. This is stealing Carole's usual thunder, but at the end of the day don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. We're not in that phase yet, it's totally cool to be aspirational right now. Just, regardless of what happens in the primary, we're all 100% on board with "Not Trump".

I know enough about both Biden and Klobuchar to know that I'd not vote for either. I'd either leave the office blank on my ballot or choose a third-part/independent candidate that best suits my feelings. Those are still "not Trump" votes, though I completely understand the thought process of "throwing away a vote" though I wholeheartedly disagree with the concept.

A summary of the Trump effect:-Taxes cut-Regulations reduced-Faster economic growth-Lowest unemployment in 40 years-Wages rising-Out of Iran deal-Embassy in Jerusalem-Hostages home from North Korea-New NAFTA Sorry you don't like him. This is essentially the downfall of the mindset because it is rooted in hatred,The discourse is what it is all about and he's exposing the superficial do-nothing democrats who talk a mean game.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 Yeah. OK. Why do you feel Elizabeth Warren should be our next president? Go on please. For starters, she has comprehensive plans to go after the banking industry, change healthcare, and she wants to begin exploring splintering the tech industry, which is wildly out of control.

You listed a bunch of things, close of half of which I disagree with, while leaving off the one that really matters to me, his aggressive stance toward China (like most things Trump, I don't like his methods but I agree with the goal). So that's "hatred" on my part?

I don't know. I'm wasting my time responding to you I think. Can you try to be conversational? You know - no goal post moving. No "I moved on" when you get caught with your hand in the cookie jar. Just....conversational. Please. I believe economic policy tends to take 3-4 years to show up. Sometimes longer. I believe that for any president, by the way. Most of the economic success right now are initiatives that Obama put in place. Trump will get credit if the economy continues to grow, however. I just can't measure that yet. I think the tax cuts were a massive welfare check to the wealthy. "Reducing Regulations" is a boogeyman for both sides. Sometimes it's good, other times it is devastatingly stupid. We may not know which for awhile so you'd have to tell me which specific regulations were so helpful. Getting out of the Iran deal seems to be ramping up a war. North Korea continues to do whatever it wants. As Brock said, it's good he's taking on China. I'm good with the Jerusalem thing. But I don't like what the Republicans represent. They tacitly allow racists in their midst. Their rhetoric on immigration is ugly. They continue to drive up huge spending with no balance. Their supply side economics are not what the country needs right now. I don't hate Trump as a person - I think he's a miserable human being who represents a spoiled, coastal elite - but I don't hate him. I just want him, and what he represents, the hell out of office.

PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted June 11, 2019 Author Posted June 11, 2019 Popular vote doesn't matter, what's it look like in the 7 states (give or take) in play?Clinton won the popular vote by a few percentage points. These margins would translate into electoral college land slides.
