Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Cedar Rapids just announced that Ryan Jeffers has been promoted up from Elizabethton. Ben Rodriguez is on his way up to the Miracle to make room on the Kernels' roster.
Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 24, 2018 Author Posted July 24, 2018 Jeffers hit .422/.543/.578 during his time with the E-Twins. The Twins' second-round pick in this year's draft, Jeffers was spending most of his time at DH, but he also caught in 10 of his 28 games with E-Town. Rodriguez, a 38th-round pick in last year's draft, hit .254/.322/.446 for Cedar Rapids. He's been primarily playing first base (35 starts), but also has 14 starts behind the plate.

gman Verified Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 It would be nice to know that we are developing more of these hitting stud (C/1B,DH) as catchers then 1B/DH. But if these guys are only catching 25-40% of the time, its difficult to see an emphasis placed on the catching part.
Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 24, 2018 Author Posted July 24, 2018 We now know the corresponding move. Fort Myers just announced Lewin Diaz is headed to the DL with an injured thumb.

How far does Diaz slip down the prospect rankings after this season? Quite the disappointment and now injured. Gotta be outside the top 25. He certainly won't be protected yet again.
Dman Verified Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I am glad the FO is starting to listen to me. Congrats to Jeffers on getting moved up. It only took a 400 batting average and nearly 550 OBP to get that promotion. What will it take to get his next promotion? a 500 average and 700 OBP? He should have been moved a long time ago when it became apparent he wasn't challenged at that level.

Still, nice to hear he's moving up. Challenge the young man.
tarheeltwinsfan Verified Member Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Congratulations Ryan Jeffers. However I wish the Twins had waited a week for this promotion, since I am driving 3 hours this weekend to scout the Elizabethton Twins for TD. ( don't worry owners this is pro bono, although donations for nachos, cheese, jalapenos, hot dogs and drinks will be gladly received by my son and me. Call me at BR549 and give Junior Samples (the person answering the phone) your credit card number and pin number). So which players (besides Chris Williams, and Severino and the 2018 highest draft pick , Trevor Larnach, do you want me to try to interview? The GM of the E-Twins, Mike Mains, is a friend of mine. (I am a shameless name dropper.)

Challenge the young man. Phew, I thought it was only me who didn't understand; I began to think that perhaps I was in a different dimension in which time moved faster and I was beginning to think about my fast approaching mortality. The grey hairs in my beard weren't helping either.

It was supposed to be more tongue in cheek or hyperbole than anything, but I probably should've have made that more clear.

Even in the ML, a guy only catches 2/3 of the season. It's a fairly taxing position, not to mention there are several catchers to split that time with.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS Houston went 3-for-4. He's hitting .333/.415/.505 (.920) since joining the Kernels. He added his fifth and sixth doubles. Explore Marek Houston News >
