no issue not taking him out, but then leave him in after the GS. IMO

 

and I'm not sure that we agree he needs humbling.....nor do I think he needs to be reminded he needs to keep working to improve.

Not suggesting that he has said or done anything that would make anyone question his desire to work or get better. Just a general philosophy that a good humbling can be used as a learning experience.

The call stood, but I have never understood the rationale for fielders to look and reach for the runner on a slide. Put the ball down in front of the bag. Sooner or later he has to show up. He ain't gonna head back to third. Garver had lots of time to get that tag down.

I agree they're bad options, but save the HR threat til the late innings, especially when you know there's a lefty on the mound now. Not to mention his lack of speed and leading off an inning not being ideal if he had reached.
