I think we can safely say this baserunning issue is no longer under a small sample size and a "subjective" matter (as was raised on a previous topic). This is a legitimate problem that needs to be addressed.

Who's the baserunning coach nowadays? He should probably be fired.

Mistakes happen from time to time to everyone, but guys like LaMarre, Rosario, and Dozier just eff it up out there all the time.

The sad thing is they could be even worse on the bases than they are - think of the times when Dozier goes for something and catches the defense off-guard because it's such an unbelievably bad decision. (Although that's not a new thing.)

Rosario, Adrianza, Garver and LaMarre have been bad on base path. Dozier usually does not make base running mistakes.

Well, that list of legitimate issues that need to be addressed is so long this one is probably about middle of the pack.

He's certainly aggressive, but he makes his share of them. He seems to get bailed out by bad throws, bad tags, etc. more often than most. A lot of mistakes that look less awful because of other people's mistakes.

Some baserunning thoughts...

The Twins are 13th in the league with a team BsR of 1.5. (BsR is Fangraphs' metric for baserunning, which is included in the WAR calculation.) 10 BsR is roughly equal to one win. Only the Tigers have gained a whole win from baserunning, at 10.3, while the Blue Jays have lost one at a -10.4.

BsR is, quote, "a decent snapshot of past value but usually requires more than one year of data to become reasonably predictive of future BsR."

So, while it might get worse over the rest of the year, the Twins are still above league-average as a whole baserunning unit. Of course, the argument could be made that the majority of the league is poor on the basepaths, and that Minnesota is above-average by default.

For anyone wondering, it's been 17 PAs since Bobby Wilson's last hit. How much longer are we going to put up with a catcher who hits .136?

That long.

I think there's only a handful of us that weren't fooled by the ST numbers and blinded by the fact that he's a one-of-us-in-law.

Meh. No one was necessarily "fooled" we were just on board with giving him a chance. Luck ran out.

And it made no sense (to me) to keep LaMarre over Cave

Pinch hit for Dozier when RISP please.

His career BA with RISP is three points higher than his career BA.

Still, this just never gets old.

Request to MOY: Please let Berrios come out for the 7th. Thanks... The Fans

Not to worry.

Belisle is rested and ready.

If Pressly, Reed, or Belisle pitch in this game, Molitor should be escorted out of Target Field and be given a lifetime ban.

Can that happen even if they don't?

Yeah, but they can wait until after the game ends to be polite in that case.
