jud6312 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Dick doesn't honestly think the Twins are getting more than 1 All-Star, does he?
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Dozier is another black hole in the lineup. I would never let him hit when RISP.agreed, but who would pinch?
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 I wouldn't want to see him go back out there starting an inning at 107 pitches.I think there is too much ado about nothing that pitchers can't go more than 100. He's probably done though, I just don't trust our bullpen.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Stew Thornley, one of the official scorers who works Twins games, used to stop by here and answer questions. They are instructed that if the play would require more than ordinary effort, not to score it as an error. Now I could get behind that in this case, if BERRIOS hadn’t made the play on that bunt. It was a really tough play. But once he did, theres no longer ANY kind of “extraordinary effort” involved whatsoever. It’s a routine throw for Mauer to catch. Less than routine. E3. If that throw came on a regular play from the SS and Mauer drops it, it’s an error. Why not on this throw?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Dick doesn't honestly think the Twins are getting more than 1 All-Star, does he?Rosario and Berrios deserve to be there, and you can make the argument for Escobar. I don't think the Twins are going to do so well in the polls, so they'll probably just get one guy in.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 agreed, but who would pinch?Dozier should be traded, he should have been traded last season when he was worth more, but this is the Twins. When Polanco gets back I don't really see a need to keep Dozier any longer

jud6312 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Yep, Dick, I know when I think of the greatest baseball nicknames, I think of Sultan of Swat, Splendid Splinter, Iron Horse, and Big Sexy. But not necessarily in that order.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 No chance Mauer is a HOF. Stop.3 batting titles and an MVP as a catcher isn't good enough? I disagree, he gets in.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 I think they get two out those three guys.I think there'd have to be a LOT of injuries and players declining for a team this bad to get more than one person in - deserved or not.
Fritzderkat Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Listening on the radio, noting Barrios' brilliance and that Bobby Wilson got a hit--an RB/1I; Also,t Big Sexy rolled through seven innings allowing the Twins powerhouse only two runs. Makes me wonder if he's released and somebody picks him up, how Belisle would do.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Dozier should be traded, he should have been traded last season when he was worth more, but this is the Twins. When Polanco gets back I don't really see a need to keep Dozier any longerthats irrelevant. The statement was “I wouldn’t have let him hit with RISP” to which I responded “who would you pinch hit for him?” The move you would make a week from now has no bearing on today’s game. Dozier has been bad, I would totally bench him for Polanco next week, but there’s zero depth to just get rid of him.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 3 batting titiles and an MVP as a catcher isn't good enough? I disagree, he gets in.That's only going to be half of the story though. Since the concussions, injuries and position change, he's average to slightly above average. If he gets in, it'll be well down the line - a veteran's committee-type thing.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 The King of Ram commercials are...uncomfortable.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Depends on what you could get for himNot really, in terms of the discussion, unless you could get a pinch hitter for him, available that AB. :-)

Had he continued on his early pace, definitely.

Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Depends on what you could get for himyeah, I suppose anyone is available for the right price. I doubt you’ll get much for him now, when the most you got for him last time was one single pitcher who seemed injury prone/ready at the time and ended up needing TJ.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 It's a pretty good "half" a story, no catcher has ever done what he's done as a hitter. And how many people have done matched his production in the other half? A lot.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Batting titles are really not that important. Plenty of catchers have won MVPs. They aren’t all in the HOF.

LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 And how many people have done matched his production in the other half? A lot. HOF looks at your whole career, how many guys have 3 batting title and don't get in, too many Twins fans discount what Mauer did early in his career because injuries have hampered his abilities, I know many fans will dipute this but Mauer will get in the hall of fame....no doubt at all.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 Alright Rodney. I’m ok with a boring experience.
